Hi everyone. Just got my first Tacoma and love it! (actually my first Toyota if you don't count the three cars I bought to flip) I was really apprehensive about downsizing to a smaller truck but for the last 30 years I have always wanted a Toyota truck and 3 weeks ago I bought a 2018 Sport with 3 miles on the clock. This truck will not see any off road only the OBX beach and the occasional snow storm that causes massive panic here.
When I first started looking I could not believe the resale value and the amount of enthusiasm that that these trucks command. Like most new people my concerns were payload and towing capacity especially moving from a truck that could care less what it hauled. I was also concerned with all the talk about how the third gen trucks have been said to have issues but to be honest I have never had a new vehicle where everything was perfectly engineered or designed. I think it will be alright.
Mods so far are the RevTec light bar, OEM bed mat (if you do not have one buy one quick. now), and just ordered the remote start here from "jmeitz". Next will be a 2"-3" lift with some larger tires on the OEM rims and that will be about it.

Welcome and congrats on the new truck! Just don't expect any better gas mileage over your previous trucks and you'll love the Tacoma!

No, but it was a 7.3 diesel. I had a 2012 Silverado 5.3 that I traded a 2009 in on. I hated the 2012 and had issues where I will never buy another Government Motors vehicle again. I sold the 2012 and started driving the 2001 7.3 Super Duty that I had previously bought and was just sitting in my driveway. I just had gotten a good deal on it and couldn't pass it up but did not need it at the time. The truck had 280K and still ran strong until 4 weeks ago when someone stopped me at the gas station and made me an offer on it that I could not refuse. I thought that was a good time as any to get a Tacoma.

Welcome!! I had a Silverado at one time too, i do miss the towing capacity of the Silverado but as a daily driver i much prefer my Tacoma. Someone mentioned mileage, my Tacoma gets better mileage than my Silverado did also, bonus!!!

Thanks. I know everyone says that but I averaged 21 on the last tank. That is a lot better than anything I have ever owned.
