Great question. Welcome to the forum! :hattip:The perception is definitely a factor but check the link in my signature. It will save you the time required to go through all these pages.

Edit, I think you'll be able to make your own mind up after seeing my pics.

Update on these, been very happy with them, significantly brighter than stock and great color. Decided to order another pair for the high beams and came across these that appeared to be the same thing but rebranded by Auxbeam. Auxbeam H11 LED Headlight Bulb NF-S1 Series LED Headlights with 2 Pcs of H11 PHILIPS CSP LED Headlight H8 H9 Conversion Kit 50W 8000lm 6000K Single Beam - 1 Year Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074GX852M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_JJPwBb7335654
I can confirm that they are indeed identical to the Beamtech and are $4 a pair cheaper. A nice upgrade to my high beams as well. I decided not to put them in my fog lights so as to not blind oncoming traffic with the glare and instead decided to go with these for a contrast look
    Optilux H71070602 by HELLA XY Series HB4 9006 Xenon Yellow Halogen Bulbs, 12V, 55W 2 Pack https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002E2UK8O/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_WPPwBb5269F84
They seem a little brighter than stock and are very yellow, beam pattern seems same as stock. Looks much better than the stock halogens.

Sweet I was actually looking at both brands on Amazon and it's good too know they are pretty much identical.

That's a really great review and we all appreciate it a lot. The prices of bulbs are decent. I just have to wonder how the look out on the road. I'm in no way disrespecting your choice but for about $85 you get this

My truck is about 35' away from the garage.

I’ll see if I can get some better pics showing how bright these are looking down the road and 35’ away from a wall.

But to be clear, I am not claiming that these are going to win a competition for the brightest headlights or that I have the longest headlight throw (insert penis size joke here). Just that they are a significant upgrade from stock and at a very palatable price. At $33/pair I was able to do both my low and high beams plus a set of yellow halogen fog light bulbs for less than the price of one pair of the “high end” bulbs. I achieved the goal to increase the performance of my headlights, improve the look and at the same time not break the bank. I have an extra Benjamin in my pocket which can be used to take my wife out to dinner (so she isn’t so annoyed that I am wasting time messing with perfectly good headlights on the new truck) or buy awesome toys for my kids. The technology with LED is constantly catching up and getting cheaper. My point is that now LED it is an option that is a significant upgrade over halogen but at the price point that is on par with the “upgrade” halogen bulbs.

Sorry, I misunderstood your goal. Yes, you are right. For the cost of a higher end halogen you can replace the OEM bulbs with LEDs.

As you've said, and as others too in this thread along the way, this technology is continually changing. When I first joined this thread I was on the verge of buying GTR Gen 3 bulbs. They're $200 a pair. A buddy of mine had them installed in his Tundra. HBs/LBs. Cost him $500 total.

I'm glad I found this forum first.

Our goals though all along were to find the best bulbs for our money. Not as a competition per say, but it surely was to find the brightest lights with the farthest throw we could. I for one wanted that for the increased safety it provided. Others agreed this desire is paramount.

It builds a healthier environment when others offer their opinions and their personal experiences so if you felt I was not encouraging that I apologize.

Nice job on still staying on top of this Rob!!

I've tried to not be on here as much as normal because i have a Wedding and a Honeymoon to pay for, a Lift Kit to install, and wheels and tires to buy. When I am on here I buy to much other cool shit :rofl:I set up a Honeymoon registry to maybe help me out a little haha

I do however want to post an update on my lighting. Those of you that have been very active on this thread know that I had a lot of good reviews and provided some good information regarding LED lighting upgrades a few months back.

I bought almost all of my LED lighting shortly after the purchase of my Tacoma. I have had it now 9 months and I have 18k miles. All of the lighting I have in my build thread is still working magnificently and is brighter than ever. I've had no issues thus far. I would say that if I currently had the available funds to purchase these XenonDepot lights...I 100% would and I might in the future if those are still highly rated.

As of today and still following this forum. The Hikari Phillips are still a big bang for your buck, but in projector housings only. These don't perform as well in the reflector housing. The XenonDepot seem to be better than the Hikari but at a much higher cost. Even though I have been absent from this thread I have still performed tests on the side.

I have some OffRoad Town LED SAE Projector fog light pods I received from @crashnburn80 that are INCREDIBLE and actually are 2 times brighter than the Morimoto XB's. These are square pods, not Oval. I was able to compare the two because a guy I met had these on his Tacoma and as bright as the Morimoto's are they were a little less bright than the OffRoad Town. As soon as time permits I will post pictures and update my build thread.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Seems like a logical solution would be to include some items for the Tacoma on the registry... Though that could have other negative consequences.

Damn Brett! My manners suck . While I was composing my post last night I was actually thinking how the activity has dwindled here and how it was nothing like it used to be. I was honestly wondering why I had not seen any posts from you. So it completely slipped my mind that you were getting married. :yay:

I am so happy for you. You know I am huge on marriage. Plus you two kids ( I say kids as term only relative to my age ) look like true soul mates from the photos/videos I've seen. I for one am looking forward to the photos and videos of the wedding and the honeymoon. Being a bit of a photo/video buff myself I appreciate your mad skillz.

Yea, I am still loving these Xenon Depot Pro bulbs and with them running sales all the time they are a couple bucks cheaper than the Hikari's at full price. I'm actually starting to think the XD Pro's are better than the OEM Dual LED setup in my Lexus. That was a special package I had to pay extra for too when I bought it $$$$$. I am ultimately going to shoot some photos to compare them under the same conditions. The XD Pro's just have so much more light and a much cleaner and smoother fill pattern. The Lexus is good but it seems a little more splotchy. I am still not getting flashed by oncoming traffic, even though as you remember I adjusted the headlights.

    All in all, 100% satisfied.

Well, it was great hearing from you and I really look forward to hearing about the wedding. Good luck and congratulations again!!

Oh, I have set a goal of October for my lift. Might just go with Bilstien 5100, and OME 888 coild, with an Headstrong AAL in the back. Should net me almost 3" overall and is more than enough for what I need an upgraded suspension kit for. If I can sell off some of the junk I have laying around I don't need/use anymore I may go nuts and get a full OME BP-51 kit. Don't need it because I am not that avid right now but if I ever become I will be set. What do they say, "Pa once, cry once" LOL

    Later Brett.

Yes I totally get where you are coming from. I guess it depends on how much you value an incremental increase in brightness. This upgrade definitely increases the level of safety while driving at night, especially important out here in elk country, and I love the long life and plug and play ease of LED as well as the color. I doubt that these are the absolute brightest available, but I’m very happy with the significant increase in performance over my stock halogens for next to no cost with these Auxbeam H11 LED Headlight Bulb NF-S1 Series LED Headlights with 2 Pcs of H11 PHILIPS CSP LED Headlight H8 H9 Conversion Kit 50W 8000lm 6000K Single Beam - 1 Year Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074GX852M/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_k62yBbCB9E344
Here are some photos with the lows and highs showing the throw. For some reference I would estimate that the trees at the end of the road with the Highs on are around 600 feet away.

    Ken,
It's impossible not to agree with you after seeing these photos rather than the originals you posted. I definitely agree 100% now that what you've done is completely logical. I think your pics and your posts will definitely not only improve the integrity of the thread but will also help a lot of people out.

It really begins to make you wonder where the limits will be with this tech in say 5 years. All you have to do to see how far we've come in less than a year is go back through this thread a look at the photos.

    Kudos man, Kudos!
