I pride myself on objective aesthetic appreciation, and yes, one could argue that I have a bias in leu of owning a first gen, but I completely agree with you. I think first gen Tacoma’s, 4x4 and Prerunners, are the most aesthetically pleasing trucks (post 80s) ever built.

Yeah I can't imagine it wanting to go that fast with the aerodynamics of that thing, let alone the weight. Pretty cool though

 

I could hold 65-70 pretty easily. It was the side winds that are a bugger. Thought I was going to roll my truck last fall on my road trip back from hunting camp. Scariest drive of my life.

 

2003, 220,000 miles. not one single mechanical failure ever. been thinking about getting a newer truck lately, but would like to keep this one and eventually install a cummins 2.8 crate engine mated to a nv4500 trans, I figure I could get over 40 mpg out of it with that set up.

I have TWO 1998 Extended Cabs, because I truly have a problem.

Here’s my 1998 PreRunner 4x4 Conversion 2.7l 4AT with 97,000 miles.

This is my daily driver. I’m the second owner after getting it from my pops at around 75,000 miles. It started as a 2WD company fleet vehicle. Then I got it and decided the PreRunner was too boring, so I made it into a PreRunner 4x4.



And here’s my 1999 SR5 5-Lug 4.4l v6 5MT with 450,000 miles.

I’m working on turning this true piece of shit into a mini truck, going to be throwing the old 6-lug leaf springs under there to lower the rear. Figuring out the front still. I’m picking up a fiberglass body kit for it too. The whole thing is getting torn down and restored from the ground up. Paid a whole $600 for it and had to register it in Vermont because the California title was missing. Read all about how I got a title for it and registered it legally in Vermont in my build thread linked in my signature.

Just got this a couple weeks ago. It’s the 3rd Tacoma I’ve owned, first a 90 then 05 and now a 95. I don’t like the wheels though. I’d rather have stock or I’m wanting to find the 5 spoke FJ wheels if they’ll fit
