So I finally bought a truck. I have always wanted a truck but I never could afford one so I decided to save money for many many years and bought me a 2018 Tacoma TRD Off Road Double Cab w a 6ft bed. I'm in love with the truck not to mention this is the first time I have ever owned a brand new vehicle.

So with my ignorance of just not knowing.....when should I get the first oil change? I've seen 5k or 10k? Worth going to the dealer? Is it easy to do yourself?

    Thanks

As with any new vehicle, you should read the owner's manual to acquaint yourself with the vehicle and maintenance schedule.

And welcome to The Forum!

Welcome. Did yours not come with complimentary service until 25,000? Toyota doesn’t change it out until 10,000, which is what I follow by. Some on here have different opinions about that though

Let the dealer do the first 2 oils changes at 10k and 20k. Welcome to the forum.... you can do plenty of reading and research on how to do it yourself in that time. Welcome to TW!

Yes I have been over the owners manual but I was asking about opinions hence the reason for the forum post. And I did not get complimentary service and even if I did I would not be using it because of the 2.5 hour drive to the DC area where I bought it from.

Any Toyota dealer can perform the service, it doesn’t have to be who you bought it from. Also, it comes with the complimentary service regardless if you bought it new.
