Is there an expiration to polishes and sealants? Back before having kids, 8 years now, I got into detailing when I bought my first Tacoma. I bought Klasse, Ultima, Poorboys, Wolfgang, and S21. Once the kids came along, priorities shifted and I just stopped using those products. So, being that they're 8yrs old at this point, can I still use them? Or have the properties in them broken down at this point? I'd really hate to through all of those bottles away and have to start over.

I have seen others but applying a product on 120 degree metal probably isn’t the best idea.

I'll be trying the McKees37 Hydro Blue early in the morning just about daybreak in a car wash bay so I should be O.K. I washed my CR-V yesterday morning at that time and it was 70 degrees w/85% humidity. After I hand wash it I dry with Duragloss Aquawax using a Viking Ultra Plush Microfiber Monster Drying Towel. You can dry the entire vehicle without wringing it out but anyway the surface of the paint had a ultra thin layer of water and Aquawax after I dried it. From the humidity I figure. With that moisture I'm thinking I can spray half my CR-V with the McKees37 Hydro Blue before I rinse it off with the car wash hand wand. Going to give it a try anyhow.

I bought a gallon of Duragloss Aquawax during a sale on AutoGeek 2 years ago and I have enough to fill my spray bottle maybe 2 more times. Buying by the gallon is a heck allot cheaper than buying anything by the bottle.

You can buy these towels at Menards also but they are more money. I bought 4 of them on Walmart.com and got free shipping.

A good reason to use a wash bay with a product like this is it will cut down waste on a windy day. Does you no good if you're trying to mist something onto the vehicle and the wind is just taking it away.

Are you saying you're going to spritz on the HB without a wash? Certainly doing one whole side would be fine, supposedly there is no benefit to dwell or laying thick. But in a wash bay you could spritz a section down with water in one hand, spritz on the silica spray, rinse it off with water and repeat.

As for towels it's tough to beat the Griot's PFM ones. They have them in different sizes but I like the 16"x16" which come in a 2 pack. On a hot day you can damn near dry an entire tacoma with just one of the 16x16 even with spraying it down with a drying aid (i use wolfgang uber).

No I'll wash with Duragloss car soap then rinse it off before I use the McKees37 Hydro Blue.

I'm all good on microfiber towels. :)

I know this is a paint sealant thread, but what do you guys think are the best coatings on the market right now? Anyone have any preferences?

I have used Optimum Glosscoat. Coated 4 vehicles with it. Have Cquartz and GTechniq Crystal Serum Light to try out. CQuartz topped with Gliss for my truck. Crystal Serum for the wife’s 4Runner.

Curious to see what your comparisons will be between them!

    Easiest!

A backyard detail guy that lives a couple blocks from me even likes it.
