Well guys, I have to admit I thought some of the Royal Purple hype was just that....hype. My 2014 TRD Off Road is a six speed manual and was a little notchy shifting when I bought it. It only had about 12,000 miles on it at the time so I'm pretty sure the tranny fluid was the stock Toyota flavor.

I switched to Lucas which made a noticeable improvement. I ran that for about 30,000 miles and switched all the fluids again a couple of weeks ago.

I went with Royal Purple in the transmission and transfer case, well I had to top off about a half quart in the transfer case with the Lucas I had left from the last time, but again, I can tell a remarkable difference. It's much smoother. My wife drove it the other day and she even commented that is was smoother.

I'll stick with Mobil 1 or Penzoil Platinum for the engine, but I must say I'm a believer in the Royal Purple hype now.

We'll be switching to it (the Synchromax version) in my son's Jeep Wrangler soon.

I've read that the last 2nd gens had some of the bugs worked out of the transmissions anyway but the improvement is really noticeable.

    Just thought I'd share.

I swapped my Wrangler Rubicon Nv3550 trans to RP Synchromax and noticed an immediate difference. I'd recommend it for long life driveline fluids. Not something you change as often as engine oil or axles after water crossings.

I just changed my trans fluid with royal purple synthetic 75w90, and it shifts like butter. Idk what the previous owner used, but I'm going to be sticking to rp from now on.

Oils are incredibly personal, everyone has their own opinions... your own piece of mind and what you feel is what counts at the end of the day. I have tried redline, oem fluid, royal purple and mobile 1, well ended up finding that Motorcraft xtm5qs full synthetic manual trans fluid believe or or not felt the best for my truck but that's just my opinion. Never thought i would use a ford fluid in my truck but i have been pleasantly surprised.

I've actually heard great things about that particular fluid, and it isn't nearly as expensive as some of the options mentioned in this thread. It's also easy to find.

Edit: I just looked on Amazon - that shit is crazy expensive!!!
