Yeah, I’m going to try that. Just wondered if most of the 3M tapes that come with them are laminated or if I could get a solid tape.

Mine was solid as a rock. I had to take it off one verhicle to get the windshield tinted, it was in no way close to falling off. I'd guess yours was a fluke.

I just got a Thinkware F70 and I love it. Completely out of sight in front of my rear-view mirror. I played with the settings and in turns on with no sound. I can tell it runs by a small green led

3M VHB works great, sold at Walmart and Target typically by the super glue and adhesives.

also, if anyone wants to buy the top of the line best dash cam on the market right now for well over $200 ($500 plus including memory card and hardwire kit) it would be the blackvue dr900s-2ch. it has true native 4k with new h.265 encoding which allows lower bitrate than their 1080p dashcams but still great fidelity of 4k video. it has great cloud support so if you install a hotspot in your car you can get notifications when someone hit and runs your car in a parking lot. I use freedompop, you can get a hotspot for $10, then use their free 200mb service, so it costs nothing monthly, only the initial $10 to buy the hotspot and activation.

    check out my review:

I'm on my third dash cam, upgrade every two years or so. Currently the Viofo A119S.
Next setup will probably be a front and rear because I want to see what happens if I get rear ended again.

gonna ask here as it looks like you did how I would want to do, when you ran the cable down the pillar, was it obvious how to avoid the air bag?

I have the YI Smart Dash Camera it was like $48 off Amazon and i wired it in the over head lights. There are 2 12volt power sources in there one works with key on and off and the other works with key on and turns off when you put your headlights on. Ask me how I know lol . Its got constant loop g-force sensor and you can view it on your smartphone over wifi. I can’t see it when im driving its hidden behind the mirror 6A15ED2A-C6F2-4EE2-86AD-C84286F908FA.jpg

Ive been using the EBORN off of Amazon https://amzn.to/2LIPNsD for a year and a half now with no complaints. You can also get a power supply for it that will shut it down if the voltage gets to low https://amzn.to/2LIPNsD or you can just wire it to a switched hot if your not concerned about it recording after you have shut the truck off. You dont want the cheapest one out there and you also want a decent SD card which most do not come with. CCTV is what I do for a living and it really sucks when cheap equipment fails since it doesnt usually get discovered until there is an indecent and the footage is needed. Same goes for your dash cam, you dont want to get into an accident where the camera could protect you from fault but the SD card is corrupt or the camera failed.

hid head lights, hid fog lights, always on fog lights, bed lights
I have used several dashcams over the years, and found that the larger units with larger battery can be left without power longer. Otherwise, you will need to setup the date/time again. for me, I power it constantly with 12v so it is always on. Just check Amazon lightning deal everyday, you will come across many dashcams on sale. read the reviews. they all pretty much have the same features, at least all the basics. I got lucky and got a dashcam with GPS for $18 on amazon lightning deal. The video captured has GPS coordinates stamped on the video in addition to date/time. And playback of the video on windows pc shows the route traveled overlayed on google maps.

I use the Viofa (or Spytec brand) A119 and it'd been reliable for over a year, good enough quality video, good interface and under $100.
