Impossible to say for sure...but the US TSB is dated July 17 of this year, and the Canadian one was July 25th (I think. Should have asked for a copy!), so unless his truck rolled off the line two weeks ago, it's reasonable to assume that it wouldn't have the newest ECM update. Maybe if he goes back with the specific wording the advisor told me to use he can get them to help out more?

    Crappy.

Is your truck fine so far with rev1? Mine has been night and day difference with shifting and putting around town. About to go for a little run to the camp and see how it feels on the highway.

I dont know how all those codes work but ill bring it in and see when they recieved their latest update. One issue came back after the rev1.
While rolling through a stop sign, once i put my foot down on the gas theres a big delay then it kicks into gear really hard. Cant be good on the tranny.

Seems like the update significantly changed the throttle response, in a good way.

It was done today. When you hit the gas it now feels right. Shifts and picks up better with more control.

OK I fed up with dealing with these dealers tech. There is no TSB for Canada so they can't claim $ from Toyota so they refused the ECU update.
My OCD took over and I subscribed to TIS to download the update files myself. You'll need Tactrix cable and Techstream to run it. The T-0034 is for 2016-17 trucks. T-0036 is for 2018.

Had it done and I like it. Non ECT feels a lot like ECT without the elevated shifting points and that pedal deadzone seems to be gone.

So let me get this straight. If a dealer won't flash your truck because you are not high altitude, but then move after 80k miles to a high altitude location you will not get it done for free. Total bullshit. All trucks should be flashed if there is a manufacturing defect, period.

I live in the prairies and mine got the ECU update. I asked the service rep to “please check if there is a new ECU update for the v6 automatic. If there is please update it”. Bam it got updated

Seriously my 2012 Sienna SE can outrun my 2018 Tacoma anytime anyday. They have similar weight, 6 speed transmission yet the Sienna is smoother. I just hope the new calibration will make my Tacoma run better. I just updated my ECU so not much mileage on the Tacoma yet. We'll see.

I asked the same question but they said no update available and they supposed to charge me 150$ for doing anything like this.

Folks who have received the update, what kind of MPG are you getting now after the update? Is there a difference?

What I was told yesterday by a Service Manager is that the only thing the ECU Updates can manipulate is A/F Ratio, not any kind of transmission settings. There was a lot of push-back from them on doing the update without being able to replicate the problem, but they were reluctantly willing to do the update if I really wanted it. With that being said, he cautioned me to do a little more research on receiving this update that is intended for high-altitude conditions (air density and all that jazz). If MPGs are not changing across the board, I can only assume that all of that is BS and it's not A/F ratios being touched, rather just transmission settings.

I’m driving more conservatively now. I’ll keep you posted. But keep in mind I’m high elevation.
