What do you do if you have weld on sliders and bend the shit out of one and can't straighten it? cut it off? and grind the welded part off the frame or what?

Yeah if you bend weld on sliders, you done fucked up. If I managed to bend mine (mine are welded) then I would just leave them be. If they're a little bent they'll still do their job for the most part. Now if I bent them up into the body, then I'd probably buy a new slider for that side.

I hit mine pretty hard all the time and they haven't budged.

Haha I'm curious if this was a random shower thought, or if he managed to fuck up his sliders.

haha no i haven't done anything yet. my friend that is going to weld them on for me is saying don't do it. his bend the bar example seemed kinda legit. he thought i should just bolt them on, but i'm going to go ahead and weld them. i got them from 4x innovations so them are quality

Do you plan on wheeling hard? Did you get HREW or DOM?

I don't have specific data to support my claim so the following is just my opinion.

I believe welded sliders are stronger in the sense that the weight is more evenly distributed throughout the frame upon a vertical impact. Since welded sliders use a plate that is welded over a large area, the impact is more evenly distributed and allows more of the truck frame to be used to absorb the impact.

Bolt on sliders use a handful of bolts to attach the slider to the frame. Since bolts only offer an attachment point at that single small diameter bolt holes spot, the vertical impact on a slider will put all the stress on that bolt hole.

I believe this logic only applies to the impact being distributed to the frame though. As for the slider itself, I don't think the strength of the slider matters for bolt on vs weld on.

Unless you're constantly banging sliders on rocks, it doesn't make sense to spend double the money on dom vs hrew.

I have used only square tube or hrew for sliders on many rigs over the years and haven't had any issues. I put my truck and 4runners through the ringers and let the sliders take their beatings.

    Just my .02

I got the HREW. I will do moderate wheeling, but not really rocky where I live. I mainly just want to be able to use my hi lift to get unstuck
