Can I make my 2017 passenger side floor board like a 2018 with the floor mat tabs?

In my opinion not worth it. The stock floor mats leave a lot to desire. Yes they look decent and nice with the Tacoma lettering but perform horribly. I replaced mine with 3D Maxpider Kagu Floor Mats. They don’t move an inch and retain all the water, dirt, sand, mud etc. A lot of guys like weathertec floor mats. I have them in the family wagon (suburban) they are to stiff and don’t fit as nice as they should.

The stock ones are fairly suck-tastic.
Do the better brands stay in place better? I swear my wife intentionally kicks the damned thing up under the dash. :annoyed:

would love to do this too. wasn't there a thread about either VW or Subaru tabs being added. This will definitely be my next mod, but the Amazon link above has zero feedback. I'd like to do what the masses do and are happy with!

I ordered mine from ebay a set of 20 for like 5$..from over seas. There is a thread somewhere that linked to them but they are the same ones as on Amazon. I would recommend looking at ones where the turn knob is more flush, so you're passenger cant accidentally hit it with their foot and have it come undone. That's the only complaint I've had with them..it's happened once or twice..depending where your passenger puts their feet.

    Referring to one like this

Why would you want to go through the expense and hassle of adding clips on the passenger side?

Expense and hassle? Its $10 and few minutes of your time. The stock floor mats slide around a good amount when passengers are in because their are not clips to hold it place - very annoying for the driver and the passenger.

Yes You could order the clips from the Dealer - take off passenger side door sill - then You pull up part of the carpet make a slit then put clip through - I had to do it on several Hondas

The first ones that I linked, you just screw them into the carpet and then cut a hole in the floor mats...the second one I linked it looks like they require a hole to be poked first according to the comments. Still should be very simple.

Also looking for a fix for this. Is there an oem part # for the round grommet-like piece that is attached to the mat? My '18 has the parts you "turn" already in the floor but apparently my mats are an older version.
    Thanks!

I just bought the extreme duty Velcro at Home Depot and my passenger side mat hasn't moved since.

I've seen a lot of variations on this question or complaint about the lack of clips on the passenger side... I never realized how many of y'all ride in the passenger seat of your own truck! I honestly couldn't tell you if it moves around or not -- that's my passenger's problem :)

I used the Vw ones off ebay. The base screws into the carpet nice and it holds great.

Same always happened on my passanger side. I ordered these without the cutter and just used a drill bit to make the hole in the mat. They work great.

I've never had this problem with any vehicles, but then again, my passengers aren't doing calisthenics over there.

My 18 came with these mats and they are just ok.
    1. They are thin
    2. They squeak for some reason
    3. The edges are curling

But they say Tacoma on them... So +10 hp lol
