I cut the last deer up like this, turns out great! I wont be doing any other way. I thought the grains might be wrong but it doesnt seem to matter as it turns out grains are cut on the diagonal when you slice it to eat. Props to yota man:thumbsup:

Ouch ....... I will have the aluminum extension ladder and a helper with me . My neighbor was putting up an old rusty ladder stand by himself 2 years ago and it collapsed while he was on his knees on the platform facing the tree and he supermaned straight down on his head and his legs came over top of him backwards . He has multiple pieces of metal in his neck and back . Lucky to be alive .

    may I recommend these?

    http://www.familytraditiontreestands.com/

locking nuts, removable seats, I leave them cabled to my tree's all year, NEVER any adjustments needed. Oh, I do loosen the tree strap for growth, so I tighten that up when I re-install the seats.
very expensive, VERY comfortable and rock solid

Marinade for a couple hours. Pat dry, salt, pepper and garlic powder both sides on a cooling rack in the fridge for a day. Then bacon grease in a cast iron on med med high for about 1.5 mins a side and roll the edges up for 30 secs or so. Butter while its rest 10 mins and dig in.

Going through pictures of last season again. These 5 bucks all made it through the season and are on the hit list this year. Got feeders and cameras set up this past weekend. T minus 3 months till rifle season opens!

I'm in the market for a hunting rifle but having trouble deciding. I need to stay under $500 w/ scope. I live in the Southeast hunting in pine, oak and brush forest. Not making any shots over 100yds. What are y'alls take on these:

Ruger American Predator .308 (will add a scope, either Vortex or Styrka):

Marlin 336w comes with no name scope. (Probably replace with Vortex or Styrka):

I would say the Ruger American. Lots of options if you get to hunt other places down the road.

The Ruger is lightweight and the butt pad is the softest I've ever experienced. The threaded barrel is a big plus since I can get suppressors from work. The other side of the lightweight is felt recoil. I'll most likely use this for work-related deer, bear, and hog hunts as well.

Seeing the third gen section forced me to get a Ford...
most folks down here i know that deer hunt typically use .270 on the shorter shots.
