    Hi all,

I have an issue that cropped up after i did both the needle bearing to ECGS clamshell bushing & the wheeler's steering rack bushings (ES 8.10106G). I did the ECGS bushing myself, had a shop do the steering rack bushings.

    The issue:
Slow speed 25-30 mph 90 deg. turns only, both right and left, truck engages the slip indicator at normal speed. By normal i mean slightly above moderate. Not aggressive or anywhere near spirited driving.

I can feel the truck being "loose"(hard to describe) through the steering wheel during such a turn. Ease into the gas mid-turn and you can coax it into where it engages the slip indicator and cuts throttle. I get some feedback, feels mechanical, in the steering wheel. Has happened 4 times, 3 on left turns, 1 on right. Last time it happened it almost had a grinding sound to it, but unclear if that is the normal sounds from the indicator working or something else.

Parking lot speeds, truck is fine. High speed, truck is fine. Only on the 25-30 90* turns, and at moderate speeds.

Took truck back to shop, they rechecked their work, everything looks good there. They also took a look at the onboards, everything looked good.

I want to say i screwed up the clamshell install, possibly damaged the bushing while driving it in since it took some effort to get it in there. I couldn't get it flush with the carrier but only just, less than 1/32 lip sticking out if that.

Frustrating because I'm pretty methodical about these sorts of things, note:
    - Bushing was installed with the steel face out
    - Needle bearing was in good shape, all metal accounted for
    - Put paper towel into housing to keep tool from falling into diff, took towel out, everything accounted for
    - Topped off diff fluid post-install with 75W-90
    - re-torqued everything to spec, red loctite on the 2 lower ball joint bolts

If i had to guess, i want to say i damaged the interior of the bushing driving it in because it was a pain to get in, or maybe that <1/32 lip? Would this account for the behavior I'm experiencing?

Although i'm not discounting it could be something else entirely, but Occam's Razor, etc etc

    Looking for guidance,

    thanks

I too started having traction control issues after doing the rack bushings with ES. Mostly right hand turns 30-40 mph. Didnt really do it much after installing Bilsteins UCA and 885’s. More so after rack bushings. Have done many sensor recalibrations with no luck. Did abs delete mod and all is good. But would like to figure it out.

I dont think your installation of the ECGS bushing has anything to do with it unless you pinched the ABS wire.

Is the axle nut tight? Had a car engaging ABS due that before.

very interesting to hear someone else had the same issue, makes me wonder how many more people might have had the same experience post-rack bushing install. i agree would be nice to figure this out, makes it difficult to drive the truck with this issue present

ill double check that ABS wire. I didnt have a torque wrench that went up to 173 ft lbs, only 150 ft lb then took a 2' breaker bar and torque'd a bit more. Ill double check that though.

i've got 6112/5160's sitting in my garage i'm itching to install, but it would be nice to get this sorted prior to that

Wasnt the bushing I was worried about more so that I screwed up the install or damaged it. Took some effort to drive it into the carrier, most of that was it just being a pain to do the job on jack stands
