My 01

 

Bought my ‘96 last March. Took her on a 1,000+ mile trip up and down the California coast in May and just got back from a trip in the Souther Sierra this past weekend....however she broke down on the Monache 4x4 trail and had to get her towed out.

Plan to gradually dial her in...ideally hi-liner shell, surf racks, new wheels, tires, etc...

 

I envy you guys in the dry climate states where you can keep a vehicle for 20 years if you want. A 20 year old Tacoma here is a rare sight and I always wonder how it is still on the road here in PA. with all the salt on those frames.

 

I don't know how you guys do it honestly. Like why does anyone even bother buying new vehicles especially american ones in the rust belt. The depreciation is large enough with a new vehicle that doesn't rot out in 10-15 years. I'm driving a 25 year old Land Cruiser and a 23 year old tacoma with frames and bodies that have no rust, I couldn't imagine buying a vehicle that was rusting or I knew was going to rust. I'd just buy cheapo economy cars if that was the case.

 

My ExtCab Taco, got it in June after someone totaled my Escape. Bought free and clear with the payout, just finished doing the lift and bolting on the 33's.

 

What lift are you running with those wheels and do you have spacers on? Thinking about getting some for mine.

 

Can I ask if you did a frame swap at a body shop or if Toyota did it under the warranty thing?

 

I'm running Toytec Bilistein 3" lift with 5100 shocks and OME rear 3" leaf pack. Im using spidertrax 1.25' spacers. They still rub a little bit, but only while flexing.
