I just turned over 10k miles yesterday, and I have a 10k service scheduled for tomorrrow (that, and rear diff leak, tranny TSB and ECU TSB, put on metal filter cover and check tranny fluid level) and realized my Service Required light never lit up! I thought it was supposed to go off 500 miles before service due - it did at the 5k service mileage.

I think I found a way to turn off the service reminder but don’t remember how I did it. I know you can reset it but I think I turned it off completely.

My 2008 would reset for every 5k miles! You say it will never go off again? That's wack!

Glad I didn’t get my 10k reminder. That’s what I use the dealer sticker for on my windshield. Tells me date and miles and that’s all I need.

Who does service by the DATE? Like my wife's car that gets driven to the park and ride (about 10 miles round trip) and they stick a sticker saying 3k miles or 3 months - guess what comes first!

Who needs a reminder to pop on their screen to remind them when they need service? I would much rather have a sticker on my windshield than a annoying reminder popping up.

    Reserected from the dead.
Was it in the dealership for the 5000 mile check? Maybe the tech reset it without noting it on the invoice.

Actually I did my own 5k and reset it via the head unit. Unless turning it off turns it off for good!?

EDIT: manual says to do this - I wonder if turning it off via the head unit disables it entirely??

    Turn the engine switch off.
Vehicles without a smart key system:
While pressing the “ODO/TRIP” button (→P. 88), turn the engine switch to
the “ON” position. (do not start the engine because reset mode will be canceled)
Vehicles with a smart key system:
While pressing the “ODO/TRIP” button (→P. 88), turn the engine switch to
the IGNITION ON mode. (do not start the engine because reset mode will
    be canceled)
Continue to press and hold the button until the odometer displays “000000”.

No, it will remind for every service. On the new gens, not sure if it's set for 5k or 10k interval. You may have just been a little shy of the reminder light and it didn't go off yet.

Bet that’s what the problem is. I think that’s what I did and it hasn’t popped up since.

Geez, the light pops up every 4500 miles with graduating levels of reminder. At 5K it becomes constant. When was it last reset?

Here's where I RESET it - it doesn't say DISABLE!! Dropped off at dealer this morning - see what they have to say.

OK - my error (don't tell my wife I said that!) - it comes on 5k after you reset it. I think I reset it around 5800 miles, so it wouldn't have come on until 10800.
Got everything I wanted done EXCEPT the stumble TSB! Tech assumed this was another symptom of the transmission shift issue. Oh well.

    ...stuff
Yea it’s 5000 from the last reset, not automatically at 5k, 10k, etc. so if you do it at 5475, it’ll give you the service reminder at 10475

Around 10,300 it should come on briefly at start up and at 10,800 it will come on solid.

Well they reset it again when I got my 10k done (which was done at 10,070!)
