    I do the same thing. I have a friend who I call my emergency contact person.

    If I'm not back by XYZ call 911 and forward this email.

    The email contains my route, what I'm driving, what color, if I'm backpacking or bike packing, it has the color of my tent, color of my jacket, description of myself, what other pertinent gear I have and any signaling device I might have on me.

    As @EDDO said an In-Reach is the way to go. I have a buddy with one. I really need to get one for myself. We use when going to Baja and really anywhere remote.
