    Hey Everyone,

I was just in a fender-bender (my fault) and it'll probably lead to a headlight replacement. I'm with Geico insurance and am afraid they probably won't pay for an OEM headlight. If I have to go aftermarket, what are the best options? Maybe I'll upgrade to HIDs while I'm at it if it isn't too expensive.

    Thanks in advance.

I would go with black out depo headlights. Pretty good price and heard a lot of good reviews on them

I would tell your insurance company that you want it replaced with OEM headlights.

They would have to replace with OEM... If they don’t I’d say it’s time to get a different insurance company. I just had a fender bender and my insurance (USAA) covered it and all OEM parts.

I had a roommate who worked for a body shop when I was in college and he said most insurance companies won't replace with OEM parts. It sucks, but it's what most policies cover unless you pay for the higher premium. I might be fine, but I just want to know my other options just in case. Hopefully it isn't too hard to argue being a brand new truck with less that 4k miles. I'll pull the safety card since headlights are clearly a safety item.

Depends on the insurance company but mine will replace any part with oem if the vehicle is less than two years old.

Yea don't let insurance company's pull that bullshit, it's not up to them, their adjusters or their "preferred shop" to decide WHAT parts to repair your vehicle with Its repaired per manufacturers spec.

I'll definitely fight it as much as possible. They haven't said anything to suggest they won't cover OEM parts yet. I'm just preparing for the worst.

If you can’t get the insurance to cover it then yes I would get the depo headlights. Changes the whole front end

I’d get OEM headlights, you’ll keep the value of your truck higher. Aftermarket parts just decrease the resale value.
