Hey guys. I’ve been reading a lot about ovtune with this new tsb out for the 3rd gens and it has me wondering if I’m missing something. My truck seems to be responsive and powerful. Only annoying bit is in cruise it will shift down to 4th when 5th would’ve sufficed. But the ovtune crowd seems to live by the results. Is it neccessary for the 2018? Most of the guys I see on here who have it own 16’s and 17’s.

If you’re happy with it now. Do nothing. If not, Get the new TSB and If you’re happy with it, Keep it. If you’re not happy with any of these, THEN pay for the tune.

    This.

The only thing I'd add is let the TSB settle in for a few hundred miles before you pass judgement (if you go that way).

Like you said, there wasn't much for relief from the driveability "issues" the farther back you go. And for M/T, there is still nothing.

The new tsb is basically just wiping the memory of the transmission and letting it re-learn? Or is it installing different software? Sorry for the noob questions, but everyone starts somewhere

New software. From what I’ve heard, it doesn’t have a “learn” phase anymore. I could be wrong but that’s the impression I got from it.

And don’t apologize. This is a community designed to help each other out with this stuff.

According to OVtune, Toyota made numerous changes in this release. The software is different than earlier versions, yes.

OVtune has nerfed learning characteristics in his auto trans tune, that's fact. As far as Toyota doing that with their software, I don't think we know that for sure.
If ppl running the latest OEM version report that their trucks don't 're-learn bad habits, I guess we can call that a win!

Has anyone had the TSB done? How long does the process take?
