It’s super easy I used 2 T-Slot nuts that slide in the factory bed rail and just 2 Allen head bolts with washers I had laying around. I know 3rd gens don’t come with the front bed rail. I bought my bed rail off ebay. Bolted right up.

Went to Lowe's and bought a few bucks worth of washers (1 inch and 1 1/4 inch), bolts, (4 inch 5/16), and nuts.

Drilled a few holes in the Maxsa boards...

Buddy of mine helped out. Extremely simple mount lol but it works. I guess the hardest part was lining up the the bolts on the rail to the holes on the boards.

I bought the mounts from the dealer that I got the boards from ($30) and the steel strap from the local hardware store.

Only thing about mounting to front of bed with a cap is it's hard to get to if you're bed is loaded with camping gear and you're stuck in 90 degree weather. Ask me how I know. Roof rack or bed rails near the tailgate is best spot

I used 1/4-20 carriage bolts to mount it to my Prinsu rack with these star knobs: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00GORWKB0/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

And I bought one of these as a lock. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CSBR6UQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

FYI that lock WILL NOT work as is with the Prinsu rail channels (80/20 10 series) as is. The head is too tall and the shank is too wide to pass through the slot opening. Even though they call it 3/16”, it’s actually like .280”. I turned the bottom of the shank down on a lathe to .240” and cut the head down and now it fits perfectly. It’s a sweet little lock so I’d thought I would share it. Unfortunately you have to have access to a lathe or get creative with a grinder.

    Thanks for an idea

Also, I used 3/16 stainless carriage bolts on my rack (not prinsu or whatever), cut them to size, and used Gorilla tape on top of those knobs to prevent water penetration as it doesn't look like hardware inside the knob is stainless. Works close to 4 months now. Might have to come up with better plan for the winter.

Will this also work on the Long bed mid height rack? Don't want to get the brackets and it scratches the truck.
    Thanks

I grabbed some cheap xbull traction boards from Amazon. I think I am going to try to mount them to the tail gate by mounting a bed rail then using t nuts and bolts to secure the boards. should be pretty simple as long as it doesnt interfere with my bed cover

Here is how I attached my xbull boards...

Clevis pins are the shit, 4 of the 1/2"×3" ones and a cable lock and I'm good to go... slowly becoming EAF :oldglory:
