Does anyone have pictures of the backside of a 4X Innovations 1st Gen Tacoma bumper, with and without winch mounted in it?

I am looking to replace my current front tube bumper with a plate bumper, so far 4X Innovations is my current choice.

Now here is my dilemma, I currently have a Warn XD9000i winch and I would rather not have to purchase a new one. I feel that I can trim the 4X bumper and my grill to make this work on my Tacoma.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

    Picture for reference.

There is only the top sheet of the bumper above the winch. You'd have to cut out quite a bit of the top, which will cause a significant strength reduction.

I have the same winch and got the Trail Gear bumper because of this issue. You'd have to cut a lot of that bumper out. This is how I did mine. I kinda turned the Trail gear bumper into a hybrid

Thank you, just trying to avoid buying another winch, mine was close to $1000.00 new.

From those pictures it may not be too bad. Our winch tray sits lower than that. You would not have to cut out over the clutch handle (although you would need to clock the clutch forward which is normal). You might even be able to only cut up to the front of the winch view port.

Here's a more updated photo of mine. You can see how I had to cut around the handle. I hadn't done it yet in those photos I posted up there ^^

The 95.5-97 and 01-04 bumper space is still being designed. It's not that we don't make them anymore, it's that we don't have that spacer yet. The 98-00 bumper is available now, and the others will be available soon....02 Tacoma.jpg

There is practically no difference between the 95.5-97 and the 01-04 truck frames? At least I assume so based off the offerings other vendors provide.

So the only bumper produced attaches to the extended frame of the 98-00?? That seems like it should be pretty easy to adapt, just add a little extra material to account for the crush cans on the 98-00?

As I tell everyone who calls, the frames on the 98-00 truck is longer than the others. The shorter frames also don't have the skid plate mounting cross member built in. So we need to get a truck in to make sure exactly the difference in the frames and develop the strongest mounting method that will be easy to install. I've been looking for a truck to use for years and finally bought one this spring. However, I haven't been able to get to it as we've been busier than ever. I've been doing this for a living for 11 years and I know that when you have quality standards like mine it's never as easy as you write above.

I can respect that! I have a set of your sliders and words cannot describe how satisfied I am. I would love to purchase one of your bumpers. I just thought it was weird you only offered for 98-00.

When ever you find the time to make the necessary changes be sure to make it public because i will be one of the first to order!

Anyone else have any pics of their sweet 4xinnovations bumper? Curious is they are a bit more trim that ARB. ARB is cool and all, but I'd like something a little more lean but just as capable.

Here's some pictures of the 01-04 model. The bumper is quite a bit different so it isn't just a spacer it is a whole new bumper fit specifically to the 01-04 Tacoma.

I've done a mod or two
@traxman25 So far you guys are the only ones that have ever bothered to make a bumper fit the 98-00 specifically. Not exactly an easy task given the pointlessly longer frame horns that are lacking threaded holes and the skidplate mount making it hard to build it high and tight. Most just tell you to cut the frame to match a 95-97 or 01-04 and integrate the skidplate hangers into the bumper itself. I think that's really neat that you did build for the 98-00 but just out of curiosity did you guys initially assume all 1st gens were the same and design off of the 98-00 because it was what was available?

You will have to relocate the solenoid pack off of the top of the winch and might have to clock the clutch handle to the back side. Page 14 of the manual shows how to clock the clutch handle.

We've known of the differences in the frames for a long time, way back when we used to build tube bumpers for them. The 98-00 is actually the easier frame to work with as the skid cross member is built into that frame. It's the other years that the skid cross member bolts to the front of the frame as part of the bumper end caps. We did the plate bumper for that group because that's the truck we got to work on.
