So I have been looking into skid plates and the FJ guys seem to be having pretty good luck with Ricochet aluminum skids and I like that you can buy a whole packaged set ( front, mid, transfer/exhaust and LCA's) .

I'm pretty set on these but need some help picking what color to have them anodized.( Only a $75 up-charge).

I'm really stuck between Orange and Red. What do you guys think.

If you plan to wheel and actually use the skids, buy steel! The aluminum is tough but it will gouge and if it gets bent it will likely crack. Steel will scratch and bend and you can just hammer it back flat

I work on pipelines so the most I wheel is going across pastures, through creek crossings, twist through bar ditches, ect... I Try to take the path of least resistance where I can but logs, sticks, T-Posts , terraces and other obstacles routinely get drug across my undercarriage. I just need keep lines and boots and wire from getting torn off .

But thanks for the steel suggestion, I had thought about this but I would like to save on weight as I usually have a couple hundred pounds of tools and luggage with me while traveling and I am about to order a camper shell.

I personally like the red; not really a fan of orange anything!

Orange gets my vote. It will provide a nice contrast.
