    They fit right where the old ones went with no problem! Some people said the needed to grind or file spot on the frame for fitment but I didn't. They are really nice. I didn't really ride it much with the stock shocks so.. But I jump the hell out of it now with the 450r shocks. I would recommend them.

    @2004TacomaSR5

    Thanks for the compliment Jon. I had three Banshees before I bought the R (91,94 & 97). They are great machines. You are correct, the handling of an R is like nothing else. Whatever you want it to do, it does.

    Engine wise, I have a pretty new bottom end with OEM gears and shafts and for the cylinder, I'm running a Duncan PC2000 275 Powervalve with a 2001 CR 250 Ignition. The flywheel weight savings is huge with the CR ignition. Thing spools up so quick. I had an ESR 310 non-PV cylinder prior to this with a pump gas dome. Cheaper on fuel, but no where near as fun as the current setup.

    Search craiglist and your local classifieds. I drove all around the eastern half of the US looking at over 25 of them. Most were pretty clapped out and then, after a solid year of religious searching, this one came up 30 miles from my house. It was pretty hooked up when I bought it, but I added a lot over the years as well. Happy hunting.

    I'm not as cool as you guys, but i have a 20170429_180945.jpg 20170715_164656.jpg MB200 Warrior painted OD green with a 6.5hp 200cc predator engine , a TAV30 torque converter and 60 tooth sprocket. It will do about 30-40mph on a paved road and climbs fairly well. My brother and I each have one and he also has two of the Coleman's 200U mini bikes one has a 60 tooth sprocket and TAV 30 set up and it leaves me like I'm sitting still, the other is stock. They are great fun and useful for getting around the property.

    @Riding Dirty

    Thanks for the kind words. I've had it for quite some time now. I bought a YFZ450R a few years ago to replace it for normal trail rides, but it was no where near as fun - so I sold the 450.

    Problem areas:
    Frame - either stock or aftermarket, check for cracks thoroughly. Especially around the steering shaft mount on top, motor mounts and footpegs. Be hestitant if it has fresh paint or powder as you will not see the cracks.
    Stock Parts - many OEM parts are discontinued through Honda. Took me almost two years to find a good used shift shaft.
    The usual maintenance items - bearings, brakes fluids etc. The airfilter is a great place to look to see if it was taken care of.

    There are differences in years it is mostly broken down into two years 86-87 and 88-89. The frames are different along with a few other minor things. The main difference is the rear motor mount and swingarm. If the bolt goes through the frame AND swingarm then it is a 86-87. There are no major advantages to either setup. I believe the swingarm on 86-87 are longer than the 88-89.

    I would look for something with aftermarket suspension first before engine mods and an aftermarket frame. They are better built. Roll Design and Lager will be most expensive, but Arens made a great replacement frame. Most will be round tube, rather than square.

    One thing to remember is that these have been around for almost 30 years and you will find many that are total POS's and people will still want decent money. BE PATIENT. The right one is out there, you just have to find it. That takes time. Find a good one and then build it up from there, if that is what you want. Be prepared to spend some money for the right one as it will save you in the long run.

    Good luck and post a pic when you find one.

    Thanks for the good info! I will be keeping it in mind when I find one to actually be able to check out. I’m patient, and want a good one, not a piece of crap.

    Brought home this bad boy last night on the cheap! 2016 Honda Foreman 500 4x4 with 214 hours on it. Some cosmetic damage (cracked plastics, broken rear taillight, front bumper pushed in a bit, etc.) but runs like a champ. Will drop in a few hundred more to fix the cosmetic stuff, buy a winch, and get it serviced and gone through...then she’ll be as good as new!

    One of my Coot ATVs. Made in the 60's. A fun, quirky antique ATV. 4WD, front and rear axles are driven by a ring and worm gear. Amphibious (not this one, since I have holes in the tubs, but my other one is water-tight). Articulated in the middle to keep all 4 wheels on the ground.

    The original models did not corner very well, due to the lack of any differentials. So later models offered the option of 4-wheel steering (this one was converted to 4WS a couple of years ago).

    This one looks rough, but runs well.

    This one belonged to a friend, fully restored. Shows the articulation:

    Hope im not digging up an old thread here but id like some opinions.

    I have a 2006 Honda Foreman 500s 4x4 with 5k miles on it. Someone wants to buy it for $3900. Is this a good price? Should I take it and run or could I get more for it?

    Depends on if you want to sell it, and the condition of the wheeler. Nada shows an 06 Foreman value at less than the 3900, low retail being $2,225 and average retail $2,930. Those are just guidelines but still a starting point.
