Hi everyone. I’m a new member who has used information found here to get me out of some challenging situations, and gotten myself into a few also.
I drive a 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport, with 6 cyl. crew cab.
Have brush guard, (standard equipment for our work as well as strobe lighting front and rear, mounted inside headlight and tail light assemblies), undercover tonneau cover, leveling kit, with 2 in wheel spacers to maintain a good height to width ratio.
2 cell phone boosters ( cause att doesn’t work anywhere without it really) a General HP 40W CB, with a Wilson 2000 Trucker Antenna. A really great radio setup once you get past the $350 tuned and peaked cost.
I’m really researching the headlight-fog light upgrade, retrofit, led vs. HID vs. halogen, and so on. Seems to be a lot of discussion on all sides. I personally don’t care for LED’s, even correctly installed with right reflector setup and wiring. I think they look better looking backwards into them than behind them as a light source for illumination. I like Halogen bulbs, ever since I was stationed overseas and believe european bulbs are better because they have been making them for a long time, and brighter because their asphalt mix was very different.
Have been looking at the threads for adjusting headlights and fog lights and believe it is getting confusing as to where they should be directed. I simply looked up the state code for headlights and they gave very detailed info on how they should focused, how many, what kind heights, minimums and maximums, for lifted vehicles, with distance checks etc.
I love my truck, and since installation of the leveling kit and wheel spacers, it has never ridden smoother or held to the road as well. Our company has a fleet of 10 Tacoma’s and 4 Tundras. No one likes to drive the tundras because of the gas consumption and you can’t get anything out of the bed close to the cab unless you are 6ft 6 inches tall.
I am a proud Army Vet, and support all our service men an women any way I can.7200AA51-C76F-457B-B0D7-CC12C25ECE4A.jpg

IMG_8502.jpg After much research and talking with Will, at Rally Lights, who has been very helpful, and is very knowledgeable about upgrading lifghting on my truck, I believe I now have an excellent set up on my headlights and fog lights.
I have attached the diagram that shows how my headlights are configured and my truck is standard switched, (power circuit closes/completes when ignition key turned on.
My truck Isaiah gen 2, 2013 Tacoma TRD Sport.
I have replaced both headlamp assembly’s. The lower bottom tab on the assembly is a pain to remove, and makes reinstalling one a problem if you don’t want to scratch the lens on a brand new one. There are no horizontal adjustments on either the headlights or fog lights. The fog lights don’t even have one and the headlights have one covered with a black plastic cap, and it’s not attached inside the assembly so I dont know why they still have it on the back of the assembly. I’m mentioning it because I spent an embarrassingly large amount of time trying to adjust the left-right alignment of my lights with no luck, and asked our Toyota shop what I was doing wrong, and was told the horizontal adjustment is fixed in the assembly and not adjustable to keep people from aiming them to far left into oncoming traffic. So I wish they take it off and move the vertical adjustment there, so I don’t have to move the battery, and washer fluid bottle to adjust it up and down, lol
