Uhhhhhhhh might want to re-check laws and what not with this. You can’t just throw an odometer with 10 miles on it in to any vehicle... how did you even get this? Toyota usually orders the cluster with your odometer reading on it and then requires you to leave the vehicle with them until the part is received and installed.

    Seems super shady.

I believe he just swapped the middle screen to have more features. Not the entire cluster. The cluster around the display seems to be where the odometer stores the reading, just like an analog odometer.

Swapping a computer wont affect mileage.

    Swapping the cluster will.

Again, OP, how did you get this part? Try to remove the inner display and sell that, not the rest of it. you shouldn’t be selling a 10 mile odometer on here.

AFAIK there is no restriction from selling a cluster. Weather it has 1 mile or 100000 miles (yes it’s stored in the cluster memory).
But what the purchaser does with the unit(installing without reporting mileage change, etc) is the sketchy part. Although For someone like me who likes to tinker.. this would be really fun to work with. Practicing LED color backlit swaps, trying to hack into the center LCD, or even finding out how to change the flasher relay(yes it’s built into the back) to prevent hyper flash.

    ^^^^^^ This

There is zero issues with buying/selling/owning a dash cluster. The odometer has been in the cluster since the earliest days. People have swapped clusters going back decades (GT/non-GT, etc.). You can buy them all day long from junkyards.

This is the reason you must fill out an odometer disclosure sheet at time of sale. That little tick box - ‘this is the true odometer reading” or the longer “this is NOT the true odometer reading” which accounts for mechanical limitations (rollovers) and swaps, changes, etc. if I recall, there is a secondary OEM check they added in newer (90s up) vehicles where both the odo and the ecu store VIN for validation purposes. I think the ecu also tracks engine hours/miles as a variable, but not sure how soft that is.

I totally agree with mesojdm... you can buy this clusters anywhere. The only problem is to get the actual millage transfer into the cluster. My friend bought a cluster for his truck and the dealer is charging his an arm/leg to do the transfer of mileage with the proper documentation.

They're are tons of private companies that specialize in odometer repair and adjustment.

So your saying we can install led turn signals without resistors and will not have hyper flashing?

No. Every led is different. Some need a resistor, some dont

Ok because I’m looking at doing switch backs in the front and didn’t know if I needed a resistor for them.
