    Buying my first Tacoma

    I never had a truck.

I thought about it about 1 year ago.

    I looked at full size truck with v6 (F-150 3.7) Ram(3.6 penstar).
I dont have anything againts about American trucks, But i read horror stories about their reability.

    Now.

    What i wanted is this.

    2016+
    4 Cylinder 2.7
    4x4
    5 speed manual transmission

I like the look of the 3rd gen.

Also i want to keep the truck for at least 10 years. So thats why i want a 2016, Since it will look Realitive new and refresh for the duration of the 3rd gen Generation. No 2005-2015. Only 2016+

Also i dont want the v6, I weight pros and cons, and Im really set in on the 2.7 4 cylinder.I dont need the v6 power. The 2.7 look like a really good engine, if im not mistaken.

Now, I live upnorth in Canada, Where i am Winter are cold and theres alot of snowstorm from december to March. So thats why i need the 4x4, its mandatory.

Now here in Canada they ask crazy price for the tacoma. I look on a USA car selling site. And i found one 2016, 2.7, 4x4, 5 speed. They ask 24000$ usd for it, its within my budget.

Are they good truck? Do i make a good decision by going in that direction with my choice?

    Thank you.

The 2.7 is underpowered. Toyota makes a good truck but go with the V-6.

Depends on what you’re using it for. Towing? Yeah, it’s probably underpowered. Adventuring? It does just fine.

Yes, People that dont know about mecanic, Tell me that 2.7 and 3.5 Use same fuel and mpg.

But i used to be a mechanic and i know thats false.

I live in a urban metro city area. When you drive around at low speed i know the 4 cylinder 2.7 will use less gaz. Its just pure mecanic knowledge.

When your trying to catch up speed the 4 cylinder will use more gaz than the v6.

When idling at lights the 4 cylinder use less gaz.

    I will drive 75% City, 25% Highway.

Im not set on towing at the moment, Just need to haul stuff around and drive around with the bed.

I really like the mpg of the 2.7 i looked on Fuelly.com and its really good for a truck.

Honestly, I get my best mileage going up and down in the mountains and driving forest service roads :-D. And before I added a roof top tent and took off the air dam I was getting almost 24 mpg. One thing to note, they only made the 3rd gen 4 cyl 5 speed for 2016 and 2017, and stopped making the 5 speed for 2018, so you’re going to only be looking at used ones (unless they kept making it for Canada).
Also, towing wise, there are plenty of folks that tow stuff with the 4 cyl, just gotta be patient on the on ramps:
