We had the opportunity to install an H11 LED headlight kit on a 2018 Toyota Tacoma thanks to our local Toyota dealer at Eastway Toyota in Windsor!

The installation process was as simple as it can get since you can easily access the headlights bulbs from the engine bay (having smaller hands does help especially on the passenger side) and no drilling is required since the Tacoma does not use a dust cover, unlike some other newer Toyota vehicles.

Here's how it all went down...

    1-LED headlight Kit:

    2- Before:

    • H11 Stock Halogen Bulbs

    3- Install:

    • The Tacoma doesn't have much room behind the headlights but...

    • That's not an issue with the Xtreme LED Pro kit and its flexible aluminum alloy leaf passive heat sinks

    • At first, the LED light didn't work with the positive (+) lined up with the white wire so we had to...

    • We had to reverse the polarity between the LED Driver box and H11 trigger wires and that got the lights to work

    4- After:

    • All done! The 5500K Xtreme LED Pro kit matches the LED running lights on the Tacoma perfectly! :bananadance:

Is there a tab for the wire harness to still click into place after you flipped the wires? Or is it just connected but loosely?

Yes, the male connector on the LED driver box has a tab on both sides to help secure it :)

Not on this install but a pair of Baja Designs LED Fog Lights would look good on it!

I actually have the XD H11 on my fogs. Install was pretty easy. It's 3 screws you have to remove. Then you can access fog light area and plug and play from there. You can also access it by removing the grill but i think that way is more difficult to reach.

The Tacoma grill can be removed in less than 10 minutes. The key is, you need to remove the black air flow channel piece that are vertical. I have T-Rex arms and can reach the fogs to adjust them without removing the grill. A lot of guys go in through the wheel well though. It's cool there is more than one way to do this.

If I have to I'd say it was literally 10 minutes to get to the point.

    In the process.jpg

This was the second time though. The first I took my time so 20 minutes.

Doing it this way allows more room to get at the fog lights I think.

    20180310_171426.jpg

I was able to get the phone into position to take this photo with one hand. When you install the fog lights you undo the one screw holding it in place and then pull the fog light through the front out the hole. Then disconnect the wire. Then put the new one in the same way in reverse. Connect the wire and put the assembly back in the hole. I suppose if all you are doing is replacing the bulb on the OEM unit then you just twist to remove and pull the wire up as far as possible to disconnect it. Connect the wire and put the bulb back in.
