What are they and what do they do?

I have a little bit oily dirt around them on the drives side

 

Edit: According to the TSB below, they are not the Cam Sensors. Maybe cam timing sensors or VVTi sensors.

this shows something diff then it must be a diff CPS

 

I saw a TSB on the cam sensor bolt holes earlier.
