I would be happy with just a very solid locking mechanism on the inside of the side panels and no external locks. The GFC could then be locked with a super secure rear panel lock that could be locked/ unlocked from either the inside or outside. The costs savings from the lack of side locks could be applied to a first rate keyless rear panel lock.

I like the side access but don't see a need for external locks. Most of the time, if I want access to the interior, I'll have the rear panel and tailgate open and it would be simple to just reach in and unlock the side panels. Also it makes the GFC more secure and look like the side panels are non opening.

Seriously, I have a dual swing out and the external access the the sides have made my life SO MUCH easier.

The side access is my favorite feature so far. The ability to reach things in the front of the bed without crawling in the tailgate is awesome.

The quick shade the panel provides is just enough to stand out of the sun and put on sunscreen before hiking.

I do wish the rear hatch could be a power lock hooked up to the truck doors. My tailgate has a Pop & Lock.

Did you guys who have received the striker plates have to request them or did they just mail them to you?

hey guys that have already tried out Go Fast Campers... how do you like climbing up into the bed and then up through the floor? when you need to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and have to find the panel then climb down and out sounds like it could be annoying. I also have my wife and 2 dogs that would sleep in there with me, and i could just see a dog curled up on the panel i need to move, then try to move the dog and hope they don't fall down through the hole when they try to go back to their spot lol.

has anyone tried using a ladder to access it like a hard shell rtt? I'm also looking at the Alu Cab Expedition 3 tent (because they both can hold weight on the roof.. would like to bring kayaks or a canoe camping).

I'm currently using a CVT Mt Bachelor and had it on a low bed rack for a few years but got sick of the hard to use bed space. Just swapped it up to the roof of the cab and after 1 weekend camping trip I'm hating it. I have my awning mounted on the side of it and it makes it so hard to pull the cover and zip it shut.

I haven't gotten mine yet so I can't speak to ease of ingress/egress at night but I know they are going to be releasing a ladder soon. I believe its coinciding with the release of the standalone tent.

So far the issue is insuring there is nothing on the truck bed floor preventing easy access up and down from the bedding area. Removing and adding the panels themselves is easy.

It is a high jump up or down for short people from the sleeping area to the truck bed. A step or platform would help.

    Dogs would complicate things.

Your buddy have the actual handle replacement or just the powered actuator?

I have the power one and it's been awesome. Without having drawers it's not the end of the world if something did happen, but a good consideration for those who do.

For those of you looking for lower and tailgate lighting, I grabbed a simple Asoko USB powered magnetic light strip that sticks to the frame. I've got it running off a little battery bank. It dims and has 3 different color temperatures including warmer light for those who don't like the blue LED harshness.

I was going to double sided tape it to something, but I'm digging the flexibility to tilt and stick depending on where you need light. Image 1 below is tilted towards the bed while image two is pointed down towards the tailgate. I tried to adjust my camera to accurately represent the lighting.

@ace7196 , those are rad! I know very little about 3D printing. Any way to print locally, online, or buy a few from you?

This is what I use when I camp for Multiple days in one spot. I am not one for an enclosed trailer so I tow a raft trailer I have converted into a dirt bike/trials bike trailer and Tent trailer when I get to my destination. It involves unloading the trailer and then setting up the tent. I do really like it but I am very stoked to be getting a GFC Platform and be able to just pop it open and climb in when I want to sleep. I can't wait. I have a Trials event next April between Whitehall and Butte and really hope to have the GFC camper to show it off. Just waiting to find out where i am in the queue and what the build date will be.

Shamelessly copied some other members ideas with d-rings and a cargo net.

Plugged the unused threaded inserts on the frame.

Noticed some rust on the gfc OEM bolts holding the shell to the track. Noticed some rust on the gas strut. I have not been in the rain yet and don’t live near the beach. I’ll keep an eye on these spots.

My goal is to keep the truck bed as empty as possible when camping. That way getting into and out of the bed area is as easy as possible, and lounging below in bad weather does not require moving everything.
