ECU TSB Update

Just to verify. You updated from 04b10 to this new o4b13? Great news if this is the case.

 

Was it not possible to go from 04B10 to 04B11 or 04B12?

No. There was no update from Toyota until now. OV built a specific tune for 04B10, but that doesn't change every bit of the calibration. The underlying mess was always there.

This is the first time that M/T trucks got a "real" ECM fix from Toyota.

 

Congrats to @MOC221_ for getting to upgrade since he is the one that ALWAYS got the shaft with updates. It'll probably be easier for OV to get updates out to the manual people if they are all on one calibration ID so he only needs to make one file.

Absolutely. It will be a great deal easier for Mat, exactly for the reason you stated. Now that the CUW file is readily available, anyone who is tuned and running the older calibrations can update with Techstream to OEM 04B13 and then flash with Mat's new file with PCMflash once it comes out. Ideally he would just need to have 04B13 and 04A71 in 87 and 91 (and possibly the new "power" 91/93 tunes he's been talking about).

 

Well, I've got techstream, the cuw is here...I've got to source a cable. I'm a computer geek for a living...

Might be time to get mine off the 04B10 platform shortly.

 

So.... I wonder if I can go to my dealer and pay for an update? I know my dealer will not do it under the TSB.

 

There's got to be a M/T specific TSB/PDF in the pipe dude.. if not, one of us will help you out.

 

You'd think they'd do it for $$ however there is the liability aspect I suppose

That's not a bad idea. I just worry I would brick my ecu. That is one of the reasons I have not bought the orange virus tune. No computer savvy. Well not at least with programming.

Just to make sure I am clear. You downloaded the file posted in this thread then used a Tactrix cable and tech stream to upload it to your ECU?

 

I've got a veepeek dongle I use for my torque pro, but I don't know if it's bidirectional...regardless, I would not trust Bluetooth for this task as a lost connection mid flash could be a brick layer
