Welds need to be sound - by definition, a weld that is porous can't be sound. To say that a porous weld is not likely to crack is missing the point of welding and an exhibition of faulty thinking.

A few photos of the welds from my post above; I was hoping that though some have some pores in them that the over length and penetration of the weld would suffice (these welds are on gusset plates and not the main joints)..

Why would you think that you were "spamming"?

I would think critisism from peeps in the business would be beneficial.

Regardless. It looks to me you might have a breeze blowing the gas away from the weld an/or you need a touch more heat. That is some pretty stout iron you are welding.

I still think your trailer is plenty overbuilt. In fact it is better built than many production trailers.

I'd have to agree; prob a little over built (not a bad thing). As an example, I was going to use square tubing for my homebuilt trailer until I took my drawings to a local place that makes ALL kind of trailers (the company is Capital Industrial, in Olympia, WA to verify). The guy listened to my desires and what I wanted to get out of the trailer. He talked me down to 2" angle iron and said itd be well enough to handle based off what I described. They were awesome in letting me run everything by them before I started making it AND offered "advice"....(the kind of ..."if it were me. . . ." when I needed it. some examples to help show you how little I did compared to you:

...no where did I criticize anything about his project??? I was just saying the over-engineering of it, just as I did with mine until I had a trailer builder look at my drawings and change my square tubing to angle????

I don’t bash people, especially on the internet! And no where did I bring up welds. I’m glad we have a community that looks out for others, but this is not one of those cases. And he and I are probably on the same level with welding haha , I’m self taught through YouTube videos, “professional” welding friends who do this for a living, and trial/error.

Lastly, IF you scroll back to about Nov-Jan time frame, you’ll see ALL the posts I made during my trailer build reaching out to all you guys here for help and advice and opinions on my build.

    Wrong direction for misguided protection.

And I just reread my post to see where ANYONE could mistake it for criticism...I think you misread something????

I agree. We are a bunch of ham fisted welders, not Hemingway's.

Hahah agreed, and def no issues!

On another note: I’ll be staring a Baja bumper build soon. I got the frame horns from DTF’s type B bumper and going to incorporate a winch mount while maintains the Baja look. We’ll see how it turns out and progresses
