I used a Chisel to knock the old bumpstop out in a counter clockwise motion. Even easier than Chanel locks.

 

I don't think so. If it does, I've never noticed it. You have the shift lever in the "L" position when you are doing this?

 

Swapped out the passenger side CV axle with a torn boot today.



And helped @turbodb swap out his old LBJs for new OEMs.

A chisel if they are rusted, Chanel locks came off without any effort with no rust.

 

i noticed a hint of it when i let off the gas after i started moving. so i put it in low and let it coast from 15 mph. its pretty loud. i'll have to try it on the used 4runner we have and see if it does it too..

 

Mine were kinda rusty and they came off easy

 

Chopped the bed up today.

 

This is pretty OCD, but my 15 year old headliner was covered in fuzzballs and it annoyed me. A light bulb clicked on in my head that I should try cleaning it up with my brand new hair clippers. For the good people of Tacoma World, I was willing to ruin both the headliner and the clippers to see if the experiment worked.

I removed the headliner because I didn't want to get shavings all over the interior. I cleaned the hair clipper blades with carb cleaner and compressed air first, then used very light pressure with no guard combs over the blade. I also held the blade flat against the headliner like a tiny lawn mower, not at an angle like a tiny rake. It took a gentle hand and several passes in alternating directions. I cleaned the shavings off with compressed air because I didn't want to brush it and risk making more fuzzballs. I declare this experiment a total success.

Noticed both my license plate lights aren’t working, didn’t see a fuse for them. Any ideas?

 

Parking lights/tail lights working? License plate lights are the same same fuse as the tails. If your tails are working maybe check the bulbs? Not likely for both to go out unless one has been out & the other went out later & just never noticed. After that sockets, wiring...

 

Tails are working. Bulbs look okay. I guess I’ll dig into the sockets and wiring tomorrow. Doesn’t really make sense that they are both out. Just with that, I’d figure it’s not the sockets. Maybe a cut power or ground wire. Lucky me my volt meter is also broken. I’ll need to get a new one.

 

Yeah that's strange for both to be out. Figures, it's always when you need to use it is when it doesn't work. I have back up multimeters for my backup multimeters. If you mess with wiring a lot, get a Power Probe, love those things, I have 2 of them now. Hope you get it figured out.

Funny, this reminds me of one of my old cars. My license plate didn't work, everything checked out fine. Turns out there was overspray covering the lenses.

 

Dam pliers are rustier then your truck. Do you park it in the winter?

 

Haha, yea I know, I stop at a garage sale and spent a whole dollar pair of China Chanel locks for the job

 

As far as the front bumpstops go, my passenger one came off easy as cake but my drivers side one was cross threaded and was a bitch to remove. I could spin it freely but it wouldn't come up. Had to pry it off with a pry bar and the stock threads were no good for mounting the new one, just a heads up. I JB welded it on but not sure how long that will last...it's stayed on after a couple offroad trips so far though. If it comes off I'll have to tap a larger hole to thread a bigger bolt into.

 

Don’t assume the bulbs are good just because they look okay. That has tripped me up before.
