AR-15 BS Thread

I went with a JP low profile that wraps around the barrel and is secured with 4 screws underneath - dimpling won't work. It has the capability of drilling the barrel to use a roll pin for extra security but I'm not going to be beating this thing around enough to need that. I've got it secured now - once I test-fire it, I'll use Loctite on the screws before I adjust it.

 

No, I found someone locally to check it for me.

The color match is actually closer than the pic shows - I had to lighten it up since I took it using my phone in the basement. I'll get an outdoor picture today...and, yes, I can pretty much walk out the door and shoot. I have a 125 yard range set up on our property.

 

While looking at your finished rifle, I thought! the beige camo rattle can from H.D. would finish off that mag and bipod real nice like!

I have an FDE Magpul bi-pod on order and just ordered some 10 round magazines for under it.

 

Nothing says howdy neighbor, like a 223 @ 7:12 in the morning!............ Hell they shouldn't be sleeping any way! were not!............ I started off @ 4:00 in the morning smoking a pork shoulder.

 

I was up at 3:45 myself. I'll wait until this afternoon to shoot - my mother-in-law's house is about 125 yards from the shooting bench. Don't want to upset the Fam.

 

Not going to lie, my OCD keeps me from building a FDE rifle cause there are so many shades that it’s nearly impossible to get them all to match.

 

By the way, before anyone thinks I screwed up...I probably did...but I know the scope is set way forward. I just slammed it and the MBUS sights on for the pic last night. The sights are backwards. It all has to come off to adjust the gas plug and I'll set the eye relief once that's done.

Just as an FYI: I've mentioned it before, but I'm a fan of Brownells Alumahyde (if color matching is at all important to you). I don't care enough to color match my rifles, but I have done complete color changes on several just to test the product and for some variety. With proper prep it holds up extremely well and is much cheaper than getting professional cerakote or other firearm coatings. I even did the slide on a Glock and am impressed with the durability.
