I just ordered some FWP bed rail mounts from @Zac of all trades for my hi lift (extreme 48”). Does anybody have any recommendations for securing it the the brackets? Are quick fists the best way to mount them and if so, which QF’s?

If you didn't order hardware from him, best bet would be 1/2" stainless bolt and wing nut (most probably 2" long lag bolt, couple of washers, nuts and wing nut) . I personally wouldn't trust quick fist as a long term mount.

Edit, for extra $10 he offers paint and hardware.

I got the harware kit. Doesn’t that just take care of mounting the brackets to the bed rails? I’m trying to find the best option for fasteners to go from the bracket, to the hi lift. I don’t hold much trust in those rubber hoolding devices either, that’s why I’m asking about mounting options. What did you use to mount you hi lift to your mounting btackets?

If you got my hardware kit with the hi-lift mounts then you will get 4 bolts, 2 will be used to secure the mounts to the rails, the other 2 are for securing the hi-lift to the mounts.

I have a completely different mount, but the principle is the same -
    1/2" bolt and wing nut....

Edit. I see that @Zac of all trades responded in meantime ..

This isn't that great of a picture, but here's how I did mine a few weeks ago:

Just some 2" flat bar that I bent, and the lower section is bolted to the bedside with stainless riv-nuts. The top is just bolted with bolts/nuts to the top of the bed rail. The front mount is similar, but shorter because of the fender.

Most expensive part were the stainless bolts I used. Maybe $20 in parts.

Modified a 20+ year old Thule trunk mount bike rack
OCD update... Decided the old bike rack mod wasn't solid enough for me, so I chopped my old skis, added some Quick fists....much better. Btw, cutting skis ain't easy! Very solid though.

I made them. Got a strip of aluminum from the local hardware store and cut them to length, bent the ends down and drilled out the holes.

Those are the universal mounts. Typically used for quick fists to hold an axe/shovel combo. I have hi lift specific mounts if you want to go that route.

Did you use a metal break or did you just use the vice to bend those mounts?
