It would make no difference with the exception that a MT has no temp sensor.

Plus the $15 for the other app, then the $79 for the Toyota doodad.. plus your phone, oh- your going to need a cable for that, oh and a phone holder, and some stem lube..

Sg price seems high until you start using it. Full support (I’ve asked a ton of questions to linear logic and gotten advice and support every time.) lifetime updates - I ended ‘buying’ a new board for my SG to get the newest version $20 shipped to Canada. Both our rigs have them and they come with to the next ones.

No need to get defensive, Just pointing it out, as it’s not normal to change monthly fee for these things, so it might catch someone unaware.

So if you have a MT you can't monitor the trans temp at all?
I do a bunch of wheeling in 4 LO and always wonder if I am stressing the trans too much.

IMG_0216.jpg Just been following this thread after getting a ScanGauge ll for my 2017 Tacoma to get the transmission temperature readings and I truly am not tech savvy but I was able to use info from here and wish to thank all for your tips because so far it looks like I got it set up right.

Yes it was very easy to install...just plug it in to the OBD connector and route the cable to where you want to mount the gauge using the supplied Velcro. I am only going to use it when I tow my trailer.

MT isn't filled with fluid and isn't getting as hot as an AT. Not necessary.

You sure about that? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a dry gearbox...maybe you mean to say there isn’t coolant, just oil.

I meant to say isn't completely filled with fluid like an AT is. The gears are of course splash-lubricated with gear oil.

I tried this ^^ xgauge but it dosen’t work on my 2018 3.5L automatic.

    Current Gear (1-6 only)

    • RXF C462051A36A0
    • RXD. 3008
    • MTH 000100010000
    • Name CGR
    • Notes 4.42 Required

Glad that one works for you. The other code works just fine for my 17. Gears 1-6.

Toyota must have done something a little different from ‘17 in ‘18.

It might have something to do with what version your ECU is.

Likely that’s correct. The ECU was updated in late Dec. I don’t know what the new calibration ID is but I’m going to find out as doon as my OV Tune kit arrives.
