Having been a lighting nut with an earlier ride, I suppose I know the answer but am interested in anyone who owns a set of Squadron Pros/Sports their impressions.

Given how low beneath plane of headlights the fogs mount, do Squadron Racers manage to throw a beam usable for long distance?

Or do the fogs mount low enough longer-range lamps are wasted light sitting that low?

I would be using these to hopefully supplement highbeams...can these be wired such that they come on with beams?

    Appreciate any tips!!

I’ve got Squadron Sports in the fogs with amber combo lenses. I think they fill in the high beams quite well and are almost usable on empty roads.

Squadron pros in the ditch light position with clear spot lenses. These throw way down the road and work like spotties. The only drawback is a bit of glare from the edge of the hood. I would want to hit anyone with these either- they stay covered on the roads.

Thank You for posting up. Please DO NOT put Racer Edition lights in the fog light location. The pattern is so focused that it will create two separate "hotspots" in front of the truck. This will be very distracting.

If your truck is lifted high in the front you could possible get away with Squadron Pros in Spot, although I would recommend Driving/Combo to avoid pattern separation. This will give you great distance while filling in near and midfield areas.

Here is a sample night shot showing QTY: 1 Squadron Pro, Driving/Combo

I would bet they can somehow, but one relatively expensive but quite easy way to do it is to use a Switchpro that has a trigger wire that senses when the high beams are on via tapping into the high beam fuse. That way you can also turn them on and off without the headlights/high beams. Plus all the other lighting toys you can attach to the switchpro.

Just use a $5 automotive relay. Use the high beam as a trigger, and the voltage comes straight off the battery. Tons of people do this with light bars.

Nice. I figured there was a much cheaper way.

But you're kind of locked in to that system though right? i.e. you can't independently turn on/off the foglights? Unless I guess you do some much more complicated wiring than the $5 relay?

Somewhat, depending on how you do it.

You could wire it "backwards" where the 12v power is actually coming in through the 2 leads of a 5 pin relay traditionally used for 12v out (normal fog power wire and direct to battery), and the fog light "load" is wired to the pin normally used for the 12v in. The high beam wire or the engine bay fuse could be the trigger source.

Basically, in the "non-triggered state" the fog lights would work as normal/as designed, there would just be an extra bit added in. Then when you tripped the high beams on, it would flick the relay over, and the fogs would come on straight off the battery.

I run a 3-way switch in my truck. Positions are On/Off/(On with hi-beam).

An SPDT like you mentioned would work just fine as well. Or run a DPDT switch to isolate the circuits (poor man's diode). That's what I did when I installed my backup lights.

This should work as your diagram for the relay method.
