14 Tacoma Expedition Ready / What is your best mod?

Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my build so far. I often go camping with my wife and I just got back from a Utah to Canada camping/hiking trip that went really well, thanks to all the preparation and help I've received from this forum. Here are two questions I would enjoy everyone to answer, I'll start

1. What is the most original upgrade you've done?

Adding a matching black solar panel that fits nicely on the hood, between the windshield sprayers, to power the dual yellowtop batteries for the fridge.

2. What is the most useful upgrade?

For anyone who wants to go with a shell for the bed, the most useful upgrade you can do for your truck and yourself is adding a Bedslide S with bins. The second most useful upgrade are the FrontRunner Quick mounts for your RTT.

how do you like the ride with the BP-51s? I just put some 885s on my Billies 5100s, but they probably don't have many more miles left in them, so I've been looking at the BP51s..

 

I really like them. I had Ikon stage 2 with Dakar leaf pack on my 2008 Tacoma and the BP51 are tremendously better. I don’t know how they compare to stage 4 Ikons but my stage 2 weren’t as beefy and only marginally better on the road, I had to go off road to really notice the difference; the BP51 are better all around. I got the 2nd gen SPC UCA (with greasable zerks) for free with the purchase online. It came with everything needed for installation. I left the stock settings and the ride is really smooth, even with the heavy duty Dakar leaf packs. Also, ARB / OME focus on off road expedition vehicles for reliable expedition travels and not on trophy trucks like brands such as Ikon / King / Fox ...

 

Ya, i got some Fox 2.0 resis (without the compression adjusters, which was my biggest mistake i think) and I thought they were really pretty stiff. now when you go blasting down a dirt road or hit a big woop, they take everything and it's nice and smooth, but i think i'd like something a little more adjustable, and i do more overlanding and DD than desert runs.

 

oh, and where did you get your kit from with the SPC UCAs? i suppose you'd probably have to buy the Dakars as well for that?

 

I hear you. I got them from OK4WD and yes the kit includes the Dakar leafs pack.
