Just finished my Timing belt, WP, belts, hoses and radiator replacement (plus full coolant flush). I had the belt kit for a year, but I was jacking up the truck by the front cross member to work on the brakes the other day and it slipped off after only a couple pumps. Had skid plate off the the jack clipped the radiator... No excuses at that point.

I used the starter bump to break the crank bolt loose, but after making a 2x4 tool to hold the crank pulley and torque it back down I didn't like the set-up. I kept looking at my AC condenser thinking it would be the next casualty if something f-ed up. I ended up buying the Schley harmonic dampener holding tool - $75 with 2 days shipping. It was much more confidence inspiring. All back together and purring along. Its always fun to play the will it start game after having a pile of parts on the ground.

In other news, if anyone around the capital district of NY is doing their timing belt, I have the tool you could probably rent for the price of a beer.

swapping charges isnt too hard.. done it for a rav4 recall numerous times. just gotta watch the static electricity as you said. i'm probably not going newer than the 4th gen 4runner wheel.. anything new new would look way out of place in the truck lol

Loving this Rexing HD Dashcam off Amazon. It's dual camera, one for the front and one for the rear. Here are some stills driving through I-880, San Francisco and I-580 at night. Picture quality is excellent. I have a 64GB Micro SD card in it, and it holds about three days worth of front and rear camera footage before looping over.

I'm doing that with the 5-Lug. Whole interior is getting blacked out, besides the carpet and seats.

I think I'm going to end up putting those Black Leather ES300 seats in it.

I like the Gray too, but the trim on that truck is beyond repair. Scratched, gouged, and faded to hell. Not even a heat gun will save that.

Heat gun. There's a write-up on here somewhere.

Your paint chipped off? On what piece? Most of the trim plastics are formed with the correct color plastic so there is no paint.

Some of it is painted, like the trim for the power window switches.

The roof is worse. Don’t have the $5k a good body shop wants to paint it properly, and I’m not bringing it to Maaco.

I’m setting up a shop air system in my garage in preparation for a paint booth. I’m going to be painting my 5-lug completely. If that goes well, I’ll do this truck too.

No, I’m not covering the truck in Bedliner. I think it’s ugly as sin.

Fair enough. Black truck syndrome here as well. I had the Hood, Roof and Tailgate done for $1,200 (Couple other small things too) which was money well spent as I'm not a bodywork guy. They did a great job blending the roof to the sides and you really cant tell. I had the whole truck buffed as well.

Bed lining the entire truck is great for the TW rednecks and High schoolers.
