You can try and use heat gun now, but not hot. You might get them to re-stick back on, only if not to much dirt is in between surface's now. I have been lucky in past with body side moldings with this.

Looks more like your body is separating from the fenders...Irreconcilable differences between plastic and metal.

I did try a few days ago and it helped a little, but it's still not 100% sealed up. I'll give it another go with the heat gun this evening, and if it doesn't work I'll see what Toyota say. Hope the flares can withstand another removal!

    Stock for now
Had the same issue with the fender flare coming apart from the body. I was talking with one of the techs at my dealership and he said its not unusual for this to happen. In fact, he said hes worked on several tacos with this issue. The warranty department took care of my issue real quick.

It happened to my '18 Taco. I only noticed one, the dealership found a second and warranty'd them up. The new fenders have stayed attached. I would be curious to know if the problem is only on the Texas Tacomas or both manufacturing sites.

My new truck is at the dealer right now to have this issue addressed (flare pulling away, leaving a gap), plus my different colored rear bumper cap (silver metallic on my cement truck) and replacing the rear seat bottom leather. Sigh. But at least they're taking care of it, and I have a loaner. A Camry. Sigh.

my front right fender started coming out. i pushed in and the clip reattached. then it was better. i dont think its a tape thing just a fender clip issue. try pushing it in and should be good to go

On mine you can push it in but it doesn't stay. It's a new truck, they can deal with it. I'll just enjoy driving this lovely Camry in the meanwhile. (Actually, it's not a bad car in a Buick built by Toyota kind of way, pretty comfy)

Do you need to know, or care?
That was my problem, loose clip.

Funny responses anyway I have the exact same problem on my 2015 TRD but what I think it is is the clip that holds it to the body is broken or snapped off. I've backed up over a couple snow Banks and I've had to replace the screws that hold the mud flaps and they are attached to those fender flares. It's most likely that those little blue clips that hold the fender flares on are snapped off.

The entire mounting system for the flares is pretty poor. Weak clips and double sided tape

I have the same issue with the front flare separating from the body on a 17 sport. The gap is about 3 inches long & a 1/8" wide. I tried pushing the clip back together but that did not work.
    Will this be warranty work?
What was the fix for those that had the dealer repair this issue?

Did the dealer just silicone or epoxy the flare back to the truck? Or is there another fix?

Took this issue into the dealer & they put new double sided tape on to fix it.
Within 6 days it has split again in the same spot...?
Anyone have success with having this issue fixed permanently???image.jpg

3m PRIMER 94 is the answer!!

    https://www.amazon.com/3M-Tape-Prim...UTF8&qid=1534205918&sr=8-4&keywords=3m+primer

I replaced my sport flares with OEM offroad flares and discovered how badly the double sided tape works for these flares. i had to take them off and re-do them 3 times to get them to stick properly...i finally discovered 3m primer 94 (double sided tape primer) so on the third attempt i used it on the flares and the body of the truck and everything is sticking like it should now..its been several weeks with lots of rain and hot sun and no problems. went through 5 rolls of 3m vhb tape and 2 boxes of fender clips..
hope i never have to deal with them again

Couldn't this just be epoxied down? The tape seems like such a terrible solution...
It's under warranty, so I just want it fixed!!!!

How should Toyota fix this under warranty?
