    I have a 2016 Tacoma 4x4 TRD, 4 door, long bed.

I was getting on the interstate the other day and all of a sudden all of the dash lights started flashing, the main computer was flickering and going on and off and the speedometer and odometer needles were fluctuating all over the place. Sounded and felt like the traction control was engaging and that the car may brake and or shut off completely. It lasted for a few seconds then normal.

I pulled over, stopped the vehicle and restarted. The check engine light stayed on and the other systems seemed to be back to normal. I had the truck towed to the local Toyota dealership where i bought it and they ran a diagnostic check.

    They found this:
Error code P01152 - Coolant Temp Sensor 1 stuck in open

They replaced the sensor and said that was all they found wrong.

    Does that seem right???

I'm no mechanic but would a faulty coolant temp sensor cause all the electrical issues. I asked them about it and they said an electrical issue would NOT cause a faulty sensor but were unsure if the opposite were true.

I got my truck back and so far no issues but i'm skeptical at their conclusions. Especially when I felt the truck was going to shut down or brake on it's own when I was driving it.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you,
    Brian

I had this happen years ago with another truck, but it was a cracked spark plug.

    Stock and staying that way
That was my first thought. Although an alternator going bad can cause issues like that.

I thought the magnetic ray guns only affected magnetic grey trucks? Shouldn't we check with the OP on his truck color before just throwing out guesses? LOL..

Definitely NOT trolling. This is a legitimate issue and not made up. I had a 2002 tacoma extended bed for 15 years and only gave it up because i was in a fender bender and it was totaled. My wife is on her second 4Runner as well. I love Toyota's because they are reliable, dependable and usually require no more than general maintenance.

I have additionally had to have 2 pully's replaced, a crackling speaker and a flickering computer. I bought the truck used in February this year with ~25,000 miles on it. I have had it in the shop 4 times already in six months and am perplexed I've had these many problems thus far. Luckily I threw down and got the 100,000 mile platinum warranty and have not had to pay for anything.

I am a little concerned I may have Friday afternoon truck / lemon. Problems like these are not usual in my experience with Toyota and I am trying to figure out what these issues may be.

Thank you and i am not trolling,
    Brian

Change your cluster. Speedo and tach all over the place and lights flickering are indications of can bus communication problems.
Wheel speed sensor lines route through the cluster to trac control I believe so if it were acting up I think you would have issues there in trac control.

After reading your post below I am not sure its just the cluster.

The main "computer" / stereo / Navigation etc... will go on then off, then on then off or the screen flickers intermittently.

Sounds like you have can bus communication problems or an ecu that's going crazy.

Start simple. Check for loose or missing ground connections. Those can cause all kinds of weird electrical issues. Then get the battery and charging system checked. The dealer should have done this, but I’d make sure. Then I’d say it’s time to start looking for loose wires or plugs. Good luck!

If I bought a used vehicle with 25K on the clock and it started going bat shit on me, I think I'd be able to deduce why someone traded in a truck with 25K on it...

My vote is you've got a vehicle with some deep seeded issues. Maybe you should try to unload it.
