I had a recent work trip that took me through Nagoya. I was able to see the Toyoda museum. The first half of the museum is about the textile industry beginnings of the Toyoda family. The second half was exclusively about the Toyota brand of cars and trucks. It's worth noting, that the first vehicle Toyota made... was a truck.

    Cheers

No way, Toyota made a Boeing!?

Very cool. Thanks for sharing. Did they have any modern pickups like the Tacoma?

I have also been to the Toyota Museum in Nagoya on several occasions. They don't have "modern" vehicles. It is an entire bldg, about a 15 min walk from the main Nagoya train station, which tells the history of Toyota, from weaving looms, to trucks, to cars, ... They do have many interactive displays such as functional cutaway engines, and they have machines which walk you through the entire manufacturing process for autos, from stamping to Assembly. You also learn Toyota in Japan is into forestry, home bldg, robotics, dental implants, boats,...

There is a really cool auto museum not far from Nagoya, and just north of Toyota City. If you just want to see autos only, this is the ticket. Still, very few trucks, but definitely worth seeing. Jay Leno did a show from here once. They cover all makes of autos.
You can get there from Nagoya by taking subway (Higashiyama (yellow) line to dead end, then transfer) and then a short elevated maglev train ride. You can see the museum from the train stop where you need to exit. Easy trip.

In Toyota City, there is the more modern, Kaikan Exhibit right by Toyota Motor Corp headquarters. Their exhibits change very often and have a more modern flair.
You can arrange to tour a Toyota plant there in Toyota City.

In Japan, Hino Motors is the king of truck bldg. Toyota makes some sweet small to medium trucks over there, and Hino is the big truck leader.
