I think what's happening is they see the update but when they get to the TSB it clearly says auto only and they just stop reading at that point. In fact that's exactly what the TSB says to do.

This. @Ruggybuggy maybe you could create a YouTube video with a step-by-step process showing the available update for the MT that we could show a dealer.

Or maybe we just wait for an official TSB from Toyota pertaining to the manuals

Above is a link to the post from OVTune that links to the TechStream download (it's the one I used to flash my truck).

Here's a link to the install instructions as well: http://blog.obdii365.com/2017/04/07/install-toyota-techstream-12-00-127-on-windows-7/.

The instructions say for Windows 7, but I put it on Windows 10, no problem. Skip all the MCVI driver stuff, that's for the specific cable you get, if you get the tactrix cable, you will need to install the tactrix drivers. They also say to select Europe when it asks for your area, its ok to select North America, that's what I did.

I was about to bite the bullet and order a legit Tactrix cable, but then there was shipping on top of the $169. So I decided to give the Asia cable a shot.

This is where I got the link for the cable I ended up ordering.

All the dealership stories are turning out exactly how I expected. Anyone in the northern california area have the software and equipment to install the new Toyota tune? I will pay for your service.

Not the shift points, but makes sense in terms of fuel mapping and delivery. Everything is computer, ECU driven these days.

I broke down and bought a tactrix.
I have 3 other toyotas that use techstream so i figure why not just buy the proper tool. Im too coward to use my chinese minivci knockoff for this. I Also dont want to go pull teeth at the dealer.

If this works and anyone in south FL needs some help, let me know.

Loaded the update last night and drove for a few miles. Its much better for city driving which is where I spend most of my time during the week. It stumbled for the first few miles but after that it has not happened again. I think OVs adjustments under load at highway speed were better, but im sure he will take a look at it. I think towing with this update will be a little worse then with 1.04. Rev matching also requires a bit more of a stomp then with 1.04 but its not terrible. It just straight up feels normal now, which is wonderful.

If anyone is on or near long island and needs the update, pm me.

Sounds to me like the dealerships are doing exactly what they're supposed to. If I clicked an update for an MT and it brought me to a TSB that said "AT ONLY", I'd do the same.

I can sort of see that if the owner wasn't asking for it. Or, I would at least engage in a dialog with a valued customer.

It is a world of knowledge out there and everyone that walks through the door is different. Some might just buy, drive, and trade their cars. Some like to take deep dives. I'd bet that a skilled service writer can tell the difference in a few seconds.

The best dealers that I have been to (and I am VERY anti-shop for most everything) have said: let me look at it and came back with some reasoning if it was a no. Instead of a straight up no. The dealers that talked with us and didn't treat us like kindergartners have earned a lot of respect and as much word of mouth advertising as we can.

If it didn’t have the manual pertaining codes like 04B10-04B12 then I would agree with you.

You guys think Toyota will eventually put out a more explicit TSB for this?

I think that’s the hope. Who knows though how long it will take. Since we want it, it will probably take years. Lol.

I wonder if/when Toyota will start putting 13 on new trucks. Maybe they already are.

Also even if a tsb mentions your exact truck, there is still the chance of "could not replicate". I really dont understand the logic behind blowing off a customer complaint. TSB + customer complaint should be an automatic GO.

This is like buying an iphone, but apple not giving you future updates UNLESS you notice anything wrong or are aware of the update.

If the 2019s are coming with 04B13 then you'd think thatd be hard proof to a dealer that there is in fact an update. I guess we just wait

I'm going to say at my 15k tomorrow, "I have a good friend that works at Toyota Corp, mentioned to me they released an update for manuals but haven't officially released the TSB yet, he told me to have you guys run a health check and flash it that way" and see how it goes.
