Was suppose to be hiking/working out and diet but it has become hiking then eating anything I want. It does not work that well for weight loss but I have lost some.

At work I walk an average of 5-10 miles a day, so I consider that my cardio. With the toddler and infant I can’t escape for an hour work out like I use too. I’ll alternate days at home between bi’s/tris, abs, chest/back, there not nearly as intense of workouts as I use to do in a gym, but I can get some basics done and so on in maybe 30 mins.

So today marked my 2 months of semi working out/keto diet. Made my 10lb/month goal, and ended at 21lbs, really thought I’d hit more but this whole last week no gains no losses just hovered.

Starting day 1 of this month doing some intermittent fasting. Been pretty easy and haven’t been hungry at all, but almost dinner time and that ribeye steak it’s going to get devoured.

Sounds like you’ve hit a plateau. It’s bitter sweet because you know you’ve been been doing a good job, but then you need to figure out what it takes to get to the next level. I started years and years ago at 250 went to 200 hit a stop there. Then down to 180 hit another stop, down to 170 and called it good after my 3rd plateau. 190 ish now but that came from beer and changing my work outs. Went for muscle mass

I do more workout then diet. I just watch what and when I eat. Portion size is really important.

Does anyone know about eos fitness? Would you recommend it? A new one is about to open right next to my house and they are advertising $10 a month and it seems like a great deal

Formerly known as Golds Gym. Golds was good and Eos is basically the same gym with a different color scheme. For 10 a month, it would be a steal Bro.

In the last 9 months since i really started hiking I have logged 244 miles and 55,000 feet of elevation gain hiking in 32 hikes tracked. After a couple big ascents and the subsequent descents I still was not really happy with my conditioning so I picked up this program to get in better shape for AZ Trail this fall and really what comes after it, Humphreys and Agassiz in winter then Rainer, Whitney via mountaineers route etc.

Long story short treadmill 20-25% slope 35lb pack been averaging the equivalent of 4-5000 feet of elevation gain in 4-5 miles in 3 30 min and one 60 min treadmill session + another 2-3 hours of core/strength training per week. Treadmill sucks but seeing improvements in strength aerobic conditioning and hiking speed in the first 4 weeks.

Just a couple years ago I had to hit eject trying to hike up Diamond Head in Hawaii. I had both hips replaced 6 years ago and while I thought I they were strong that diamond head hike told me otherwise. I was 230lbs and basically lying to myself that I was in better shape than I really was. I am down to 215 with no diet changes and added a whole lot of muscle especially in my lower body.

Got in a 10 mile hike at S. Mountain today but pushed a little too hard and didn't drink enough and get food in me. So I went to urgent care and got 2L of fluids and a stern reprimand from a hot NP!
Going to try and get the bike out tomorrow. It is driving me crazy sitting in my living room so clean!!

Yeah i am just finishing week 4 of the transition period. My least favorite day is my zone 2 day. I jump on a treadmill for 35 min set at 15-25% slope incline with a 30lb pack on and depending on the slope 2-2.5mph

I have to say so far it works I'm seeing real gains in core strength overall strength and aerobic capacity which translates to faster sustainable hiking speeds. Belly fat is burning off quickly too

Might have to snag this book. I am reading The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev, love reading about high altitude climbing. Not for me but it is exciting.
