Looking to get a second set of wheels and I'm trying to get the differences between the 2 popular options.

FJ Steels are 17" and have a 14 offset (30lbs)

Tacoma stock spare Steels are 16" and have a 30 offset (22 lbs)

To begin... the 14 offset will bring the tires outboard more than the 30, correct?

The Toyota spec sheet says model year 17 stock Tacoma wheels have a 20-30 offset. Does anyone know what the stock OR wheels offset is?

I'd prefer the FJ wheel for 17" tire options but the Taco Spare for weight.

    Thanks for the info.

Where did you find the specs on Taco spare steelies..??

My findings show them weighing in at 28 lbs..!! Not much lighter than the FJ 17s at that weight... Im curious because im really diggin the steelies myself and torn between the two... If they are 22 lbs it would end the debate...
Ideally Id like the FJ 17 steelies with 255/75r17s but weight is a major concern with the 2.7l im running... luckily mine is a 5 spd with 4.30 gearing... I think with the 6cyl it would be less of a concern..

Personally I dig the FJ steelies. That metal center cap is great.

But they're getting harder to find...and often do not include the caps. The caps are usually sold separately and can be pricey.

Oops. I misread your original post. I thought perhaps you didn't realize the Sport had a 17" spare. My bad

I'm not stuck on a 16 or 17. Whatever works out best.

Did you notice the extra weight of the steel wheels?

Ive found conflicting info many times while researching tires so Im still uncertain... this is the first time ive seen them listed at that weight.. The standard 16 alloys are 24 lbs... i dont see how the spare steelie could be lighter... maybe this aftermarket wheel is lighter than OEM..??

I would love to be wrong on this...

I think i just figured this out.. another link to someone who had weighed them

My rig on FJ Steelies, brought the wheels out nearly perfectly flush with the fenders. Looks bad-ass with 255/75/17 BFG M/T's if I do say so myself!

    :D

I have 3/4 steel centercaps but don't run them because I know I'll lose them offroad or they'll hold water/sand.

Only "side" pic I have right now.

Cool. Do you notice the weight? Or did you when you switched?

I had the stock TRD/OR alloys with 265 70 16 yokahama geolandars on before I went to the steelies with 255 75 17 BFG MT's Honestly my butt dyno couldn't decern a real difference.

I just weighed a steel spare wheel bare taken off my 2009 Tacoma. Weight comes in at 23.5 lbs if my scale is correct. This seems very similar to what an alloy wheel would weigh.

Those look good!!! I'm trying to decide on this size or 255/80's that will go on 17" FJ steelies. Looking for input on what color I should powder coat them here .
