If you guys got all the equipment could you potentially get all software updates when they become availible, for engine, tranny etc..? How does it work?
Im getting close to the 80k that it states its covered under warranty. Might be interested in chipping in

Ya, the idea started out sharing cost of cable...

yanno, I would kinda feel icky hanging up a shingle for something that >I< personally have zero intellectual ownership of (Software all around, on laptop and in truck)

Short answer to first question is yes.

So, all THAT being said...I'm in this because I have 2 out of 3 of the functional requirements to perform this. All the software...The missing item is a cable that makes two computers talk. I'm a geek, I do this stuff for a living (hence the icky comment above) and I've had TS for close to a year now. TS is the configuration software for virtually all 'brain' components on your truck. It can turn seat belt ping off, it can turn off door chime...it can reprogram the brain of the truck. Everything that anybody asked their Dealer to do, but they said they couldn't...well they can.

I've been meaning to get it out to play with but...I havent got a cable LMAO! Now this update comes out for a 04B13 tune for MY truck...emphasis on MY cuz I'm a 04B10 tune.

Whats that you ask? A 04B10? Yeah, as it turns out my buggy was built 09/15. Thats one of the first lot built...and I'm a MT so that already makes me read headed step child status. But among US read head step children, there are the RETARDED read headed step children...they are those who run 04B10 tune.

Yes, I am one of the retarded read headed step child class, because I run a 04B10.

But, but...OVTune they said!!!! Yes, and he is a saint...from what I hear anyway. I haven't bought the OVTune because (I'm sensing a trend here) 04B10. From everything I've read, he's made some real nice gains in drivability satisfaction areas, and even gained slightly on HP/Tq but I cannot confirm. Back to the story...even Matt I'm sure, cussed the fvck out the 04B10 platform tunes he supports, and also the 04B11 and 04B12 to a much much lesser degree I'm sure. Having to port code modifications across more than 1 code base, is a pain in the ass, let alone 3 platforms (we're not even talking Slush Box Tranny yet!).

The new Toyota Factory Tune Platform is 04B13 (for MTs, thats an MT ECU code...AT's are different). Evgene @Norilsk runs a 04B12 cuz he's a noob and didnt get in early on the fun. What is DIFFERENT about this release is, its backward up-gradable. Never, to my knowledge, in our 3rd Gens at least, has a TSB been release by Toyota that flashes ALL (again, manual transmissions) ECU to the same upgraded level across the board. Yup, even the dreaded 04B10...So, here we are.

Because I see future mods of the seat belt chimes and other things I'll do just to mess with my wife *evil grin* I'm going to need a cable of my own. Genuine article (Tactrix) I've found for 169 US. Not going to do the Knock off version for $49 or whatever because if I wanted a Chinese knock off I'd be driving a fvcking Yugo or something, and I dont wanna brick my ECU due to cheap.

(My Step Brother actually owned a 1979 Lada Niva back in '83, yup, my step brother)

I'm gonna buy the cable myself, and flash myself right out of the 04B10 and become a 04B13 brethren AND I'm going to mock Evgene and his puny little girly man 04B12. (get a haircut!)...and the cable will pay for itself easy over time for me. And it will be my cable, no shared ownership squabbles lol

And again, I dont think I can charge a "fee" either...its either moralistically or ethically wrong (in my position, I gather both). But more importantly than that, when a "fee" is charged it brings with it consequence. I sure as fvck dont want to brick an ECU (especially mine) that I will be liable for. And "fee"s come with that liability consequence.

But I'm not a prick (don't reference my neighbours, they lie)...I'd be willing to help anyone looking to perform operations on their brain or even areas in the outer nervous system, and I'm human...a red blooded male human, I CAN be BRIBED. I drink bourbon. I drive a Tacoma.

Reality is... delivery of the cable could be up to 18 days. The hub bub of all this right now is the Dealers wont apply the TSB to the MT guys cuz it specifically references AT only. FULL STOP. It is not a Transmission based TSB. It is a ECU TSB that is worded badly so the red headed step children still will remain in their fvck you tier of caste in their elite slush box utopian pink sky, Buck Rogers in the 21st Century world. (I might have embellished a tad on that last one).

Buddy Arc Welder (a Canadian BTW) got his hands on the new TSB file and applied it to his MT. He has an 18 (04B12 prick like Evgene) and was the first 18 to apply OVTune. He was blown away by the improvements in alot of areas of this new TSB Release. Throttle mapping being one of the biggest. Subsequently, a couple of the RRST 04B10 crew (we have patches!) who also run OVTune said, fvck it we've done this 450 ways til sunday, gave it a try. IT WORKED!!!! it upgraded a 04B10 to 04B13! And the tune is sweet. But who cares! No more 04B10 amirite?

For the AT guys here who want the new TSB applied...this is dealer no charge, no hassle for you. Its an emission based TSB so the warranty period is longer. Get it on your next service visit. But your more than welcome to come visit an MT guy playing with his truck if you like.

So, I think this is the direction I'm gonna go. You wont be contemplating me for advise and assistance on suspension, but perhaps if I get funky with this stuff, I might be the guy you look to for open heart brain surgery. :)

Moral of my story? I cant change being a step child, but I can change my hair colour...oh shit wait, I'm still retarded.

    Disregard, but FVCK 04B10!

Depending on how your truck drives after the update, I can join in that software party. Got to test drive it first:burnrubber: and if it's a donation it's not making you responsible for anything that goes wrong later

Your step brother must have balls driving that bucket of bolts... I had one running in the family, the things it can do - put's any Jeep to a shame...
Me and @Ttaco15 saw one of those while driving in QC and I slammed so hard on the breaks and ran into the junkard with some hopes to drag it out from there, but then I realized I have no trailer or available parking space:mad: need bigger garage :annoyed:

where did you get tech stream? I need a copy.

And I could probably get the cables pretty cheap from a secret source if he still has hook ups on the mongoose cables.

Everyone going to common tune base, regardless of 3rd gen year or config. It's a good thing
