    NP! I bought my gears from a Nitro group buy through @Babyjake16 then found a good local installer. Cost me about $2000. But then I sold my 4.30 to someone with an AT so that helped offset the cost As an added bonus my wife likes the 4.88s too. She says it no longer feels like driving with the parking brake on.

    Once I get that volant intake on and the new ECU calibration it should feel like a whole new truck!

    Now I only have to wait for Magnuson....

    Why would an auto and a manual with the same gearing have different engine rpms? If they both have the same engine, the same gearing and the same tiure size, wouldnt they have about the same engine rpm speed on 4.88's?

    So the trans gearing and the diff gearing provides a final drive ratio... i think, if I have this figured out in my head.

    Word. Its starting to make more sense. I have 4.88's currently in my AT '16 with 265/70/17 and even though its pretty wound up (overgeared), it drives real nice. Ill be adding some 34"'s here pretty soon and it should decrease the engine RPM at hwy speeds some more.

    You got it! The engine speed is first reduced through the transmission gearing. Next then output of the transmission is reduced by the transfercase gearing and then a final reduction through the axle gears.

    I'll add that our transfer case is 1:1 in high and 2.57:1 in low. If you add a dual transfer case you can get the Japanese 4.7:1 ratio.

    So you just keep multiplying.

    (e.g. 1st gear transmission * 4WD Low * Dual 4WD L * Axle = final)
