Got my Softopper installed yesterday. Pretty clever design. I think it will be pretty versatile for me. Just need to figure out how I'm going to carry my paramotor under it, considering the hoop is only about 2" narrower than my bed.

Will get better pictures soon - when the truck is not in the shade of the huge oak trees in my front yard.

Added: Better picture. Out at the flying field this evening. The top does interfere with loading my motor a bit, but I can still get it in the bed.

I was looking into adding a magnetic strip on mine in place if the velcro. Any tips or links?

Put the velcro and snaps on the front of the bed.

The S10: 56.75" between the side rails, 75.25" long, and 19" tall.
The 2011 Tacoma: It will be 57.5" between the side rails, 75.375" long, and 19.25" tall

    It should fit just fine.

You will have problems with the utility-track clamps on the Tacoma instead of the C-Clamps on the S10. Look for someone to sell the Tite-Loc Tacoma clamps. They should work, but I am not positive how the Softopper clamp system works.

Bit of an thread revive- Anyone happen to have photos/experience of the softopper down with a dirt bike/motorcycle in the back? Secondly, has anyone used a bed mount bike hauler with the softopper, was there enough height to clear a mountain bike? Pretty much my two primary goals/concerns before I order one.

the truxedo one I have works with 4 wheeler in bed. it rolls tight and small and sits above front rail. U get ALL of bed space. Other soft velcro units might be similar.

It was always so easy to take the topper on/off I never used mine in the stowed position.

Bestop folds up similar to old convertible tops above the bed line. I don’t imagine it would get in the way of a front wheel of a dirt bike up against the bed or in a tire chalk.

yes, they are great. Look thru their other buckles also. There are some that slip onto existing straps also.
oops. the one I linked is the one that slips on. they charge $10 shipping. get a tin of the german caffeinated chocolate to make the shipping worth while.

    Got a long bed.

Tailgate down. I camp in the Desert so rain isn't usually an issue. I got some army surplus canvas tents and poles and made a cover on the end for wind and wet weather.

Softopper acquired! Quick pic before I even washed it. I'll update when the temps are above freezing and the truck is clean.

Couple of months of hunting around and found myself a soft topper off a 3rd gen on facebook marketplace for a good price about an hour from here.
Installed in 30 minutes as soon as I got home... a little fiddling to get it adjusted and sitting right on my 2nd gen. Working out great aside from a small trickle of water under the used weatherstripping (I'll replace as soon as the weather warms up) in a few days of torrential rain. Been covered in snow a couple of times already, and it was great for it's first ski day.

Thinking of ordering a few parts to freshen it up a bit, but a couple of questions for you all before I do:
Anyone install a 3rd set of clamps for better fit?
Is there a better or reccomended weatherstripping aside from the stuff sold on softtopper's site?
Same for the tailgate velcro, better or recommendation there?
Worth snapping down the front of the bed? Have a source for screw in snaps or again order from softtopper?

Thanks so much! Really appreciate all the details in this and other TW threads on the softtopper.

Still have mine after 12 years. Only thing I had to replace was the back panel, plastic cracked. Replacement was without the window. Only 2 snaps have pulled out of the canvas.

I have just used 3m double-sided tape, didn't find the weatherstripping did a good job. Leaks very little at the corner flaps. I installed magnets in the rear flap, that keep it a little more secure against the tailgate. Velcro fails after a few years.
