Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Too much turbo hype and not enough talk about the 5th gear lock while towing for better mpgs and less unnecessary downshifts!

 

Twin turbos > 5th gear lock

 

My truck already stays in 5th and doesn’t downshift unnecessarily. Turbos are the important topic!

 

What would a turbo setup do to mpgs? I know it’s all a lot about how you drive but is there any expectation on increase, decrease, or stay the same for gas efficiency?

 

From my experiences, MPG stays about the same... Until you hit the boost. Then its game over. But really, if you're dropping 6k+ on a turbo setup, I wouldn't assume gas milage is very high on the priority list.

 

So hypothetically speaking how much these twin turbo setup going to cost. Am I going to have to pull a second mortgage on the house to be able to afford it

 

Well Matt originally said $5-6k range. But im expecting over 6k

 

A long time ago Matt said if you don't want the truck to downshift by itself in S, you won't be able to shift at all in D

 

Believe it or not, forced induction in general has the ability to give you better mpg, if you don't drive like a child who just got the best Christmas gift ever

This is false. My pre order receipt says that I am order #002 which I would assume is second in line.

 

I wonder how long it will take for alpha thread posters to figure it out this time.

I noticed a slight improvement going from 04B12 to OVT 1.04 87, but haven't noticed any change going from OVT 1.04 87 to 04B13.

 

My main complaint with 04B12 was that huge surge of power that happened about 3500 RPM, almost like the engine suddenly gained 2 cylinders. OVT 1.04 made that much less and 04B13 seems to have eliminated that or at least mostly. OVT 1.04 definitely made improvements to towing performance. Now I'm waiting to see what 1.05 offers.
