Well since theres no dedicated thread at the moment. Anybody want to go camping next weekend? The 25th and 26th? I just wanna get out of the valley for a bit while i have a chance!

 

We have a mini fridge in the bedroom, as well as an extra keurig.

Well, I'm getting caught up...


I understand location, but is it worth 100k? I was talking to some guys about this earlier today. Youre looking at houses in the mid 200s correct? Hear this out.

I know Maricopa is a bit off the normal path, or SanTan for that matter. However I did just buy a first house and I looked for almost a year before buying...I finally came to the decision of money in my pocket vs. maintenance needs vs fixing up vs space yadda yadda. I looked at a lot of houses 10+ years old that were nice, but those are 12 year old homes and WILL need some work... and once youre in your house you most likely wont have the cash to sling around. and not making fun, but you do get sick sometimes and that throws you a curve ball where it sounds like you're out of work, and money is gonna be tight at times.. Things like AC replacements, and roofing, are not only expensive projects but you have to be there with them and away from work...

In Maricopa I got a BRAND NEW HOUSE, 10 year warranty, 30 Year roof warranty, 16" Tile, Granite Counters, ALL OF MY APPLIANCES(Fridge, stove, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, dryer) FRONT AND BACK yard landscaping with irrigation systems, a 17 ser AC, brand new SRP approved efficient windows, all of my blinds, 2 tone interior paint, 2 tone exterior paint, rock on the front of my house, insulated garage door, OVERSIZED 2 car garage for $149,900. If I remember correctly youre looking in the 250,000 range at beat houses....

I do a lot more garage work than you, and much more in depth than ALOT of people, and am able to make a 2 car garage work a little shelving work, and a work bench built by me to fit right where I wanted, and its been fine... why are you so hung up on the big room? you only have 1 car afterall...

I'm just saying, my commute to work really isn't much more than most people who have to go straight through the city. yes the miles are farther, but I do 80mph all the way to work with 4 or 5 stops vs 35-45mph and 10 stops...

for $100,000 grand in my pocket, Ill deal with checking the traffic report on the highway before I leave to work, ill keep a couple extra sick hours in the bank in case of a dust closure, and ill also stack an extra 1500 a month into savings/investments where my money is making me money instead of me trying to fix someones hack job....its nice to have a house that I can not work on constantly and allows me to work on other projects... no water heaters leaking, no drywall bulging, no tiles coming up, etc.

Another note to mention, I sleep during the day because I work nights, with that I keep my AC cranked to 75 since I'm trying to sleep in the light, and my power bill is less than $90 because the new equipment is EFFICIENT compared to the older stuff..

it would suck to be house poor.

it would suck double to be house poor and sleeping with termites,

it would suck even more to be house poor, sleeping.... or trying to sleep, with bugs but not being able to sleep because the ac broke AGAIN

it would suck 10x to be house poor, sleeping with bugs, but not really sleeping because its hot(remember your AC broke) and watching the roof of your house get destroyed in a night time storm because your up anyways


its a 15-30 year commitment... and my +2, 2 car garage is plenty of room to reinvent a light bar man... Hell, I can build a car engine, have a race car, my truck, both my toolboxes, all my camping gear, spare truck parts(which is quite a bit) a dirtbike with the motor torn down, all my yard equipment, a fullsize beer fridge and a swamp cooler all tucked into the garage with no problems, and without it being a complete cluster....

 

Click click boom! Good decision to pass on that house. When I looked at adding a third garage to my house 15 years ago it was almost 17k. It would have cost 8k if it would have been added to the house before we built it.
I like to say I have more time than money so take your time and the right house will come your way .
