Matmo215, what did you have for tires before switching to the Cooper XLTs, and did you notice any gas mileage difference after you switched?

I had 265/70r16 Yokohama YK-GTX tires on, highway tire for sure. And I noticed maybe a 1-2mpg decrease. But i also drive like an asshole so it’s definitely going to be a bigger mpg hit for me

I had Toyo ATs before in same size, 285/75/16s and the specs are very similar to the Coopers AT XLT, and so far the Coopers are a much better tire. The Coopers are much quieter and handle the road much better then my Toyos did, but my first tank of gas I noticed a big drop in MPGs :-( I'm hoping it was human error or bad gas, I'll know shortly after my weekend trip and I'll report back.

Well make sure you order the washer and bushing kit for the fronts, apparently I missed the memo. I installed the backs no problem, they came with The washers and bushings I needed. Pulled the fronts apart and went to install shock absorber number one only to realize the fronts for some reason do NOT come with the necessary bushings and stuff. Had to call to make sure they didn't forget to pack them and lo and behold I have to pay another $26 to get some washers and bushings, put the front back together with the old shock and wait a few more days to finish my install. After reading a bit more I guess this is common and most people know to order the bushings. I missed that I guess. Doesn't make sense to me at all that they don't come with. Just a heads up in case you didn't know.

Honestly not as big of a difference as I was hoping yet, but it has been .5 to 1 mpg better every tank so far. I haven’t taken my truck on a long highway trip since I got the tires though it’s been mostly city and mountain roads. I’m still really happy with the tires though!

I got my AT3 LT’s (load range E) put on yesterday, haven’t put many miles on them yet, but they ride great and are as quiet or maybe quieter than the factory style bridgestones I had on it before. You can feel that they are a little heavier accelerating and braking, but I expected that and have no regrets. I also went up a size to 265/70/17. They are riding pretty soft at 40 PSI, I might leave them there as great as they are riding. You could air down a little and get an even softer ride if you wanted. I have no regrets about getting the E’s so far.
My dad came in after I got home and goes: “if it snows I’m riding with you”.

Load range E? A 10 ply tire seems like way overkill for a Tacoma.

Maybe for some. Every set of tires I’ve replaced on my truck have been replaced due to a blowout from hitting something off-road. I usually get a cut in the edge of the tread, almost at the sidewall. I thought I’d try something different this time. I’m loving them so far.

I only drive my tacoma like 5k miles a year so a heavier tire isn’t an issue for me.

Also, these were cheaper than the load range C’s by about $25/tire. These were installed for under $700.

Anyone know if the side lugs are exactly the same on the 4s vs the LT? I've been looking back and forth at the photos you guys are posting and it looks like they are identical to me now.

I’m getting the LTs mounted tomorrow. From what I have seen from pictures, they appear to be the same depth but the LTs come down further on the sidewall (towards the wheel) than the 4S. But that’s just from what I’ve seen in pictures. I can post some better sidewall pics tomorrow after they are mounted.

Edit: pics from google: hard to tell because the sizes of the tires/wheels are probably different in each pic.

They are the same design the LT just has a longer element and more depth.

That's what I'm planning on when my current tires wear out. I bough tit used with the old style Cooper AT/3 tires on it. Presently have 265/70 R16. May go to 265/75 R16 with the new ones, if I can do it without further mods to the truck.

I had a 2nd gen that I put that size on with stock wheels. You should be good with 265/75/16. They were cooper ST Maxx.
