Haha aint that the gods honest truth. I get a sore neck from the welding helmet every now and then, and I feel like I'm in one of those American Ninja Warrior TV shows when I'm trying to get in all straight and peggy.

I think all the folks with seat complaints, particularly the ones that have head rubbing issues on a sunroof, should have

-taken good test drives and then

    -bought something else

Why buy something that doesn't meet your needs?

Yup. Never understood it. I question a lot of these head hitting comments too. I'm sure some people are. But I think I take the cake in this thread so far at 6'5" and I have head clearance. Not with a sunroof, thus I didn't get one.

I do have to duck way down to see stop lights in the city. Doesn't bother me though. I got the truck for 100 other reasons. Seat adjustability wasn't a huge tradeoff for me. I knew what I was getting into. And I do 6hr+ trips yearly plus bounce around the cab all the time off road. No biggie.

And I love the argument of it being 2018 and other mfgs putting adjustable seats In and saying Toyota is not with the time. True short and tall people just get that shit doesnt fit for them. I mean I haven't been able to actually buy clothes from a store since I was 15. But I recognize that If something works for 99% of the market, some times certain options just aren't worth the cost to a company.

Correct. But then you can't reach the wheel because your legs are still just as long and your seat is slammed back and the streering wheel only comes so far.

It does mean something when you can get a Canyon/Colorado that comes with power adjustable seats and a nicer overall interior.

And soon the competition from Ford will have a turbo 4 which is honestly what the midsize market needs to remain an option which make sense to buy over a full size. A fuel efficient truck.

I think the seats are pretty comfy. If the seat portion tilted up/down it would be perfect. My wife wasn't too crazy about it during our test drive but since it's not her truck, I bought it.

I am the same height. You know about the double joint in the mirror right? There's a thread on this somewhere but if you look behind your mirror, there a second joint where the arm attaches to the windshield, usually moving that higher up will clear your view. Most folks don't realize this and only adjust the joint where the mirror attaches to the arm.

That is what it means to you only. If seat adjustment were critical I would have bought something different. Simple. I test drove a half a dozen times at least. I test drove to my house and studied the truck. I tried getting in several different ways. I adjusted the seat and wheel every conceivable way. Being my size I am used to it as I don't fit in anything easily. Everyone should have done the same.

Realistically though you had 1 maybe 2 other choices if you wanted something this size. It is not that difficult to sell a product successfully with a horrible seat/ergonomic setup when you have so few competitors. I think the seat is probably the worst on the market. Have had 30 odd vehicles and this is the worst seat/steering setup. This isn't just a few people, basically every single review agrees and lots of owners mention it. The rest of the truck I love so willing to live with the seat. Imagine if this segment had 5-6 choices and if some of these were like tacoma but with a good seating arrangement, it would be a lot harder to overlook the shortcoming.

I don’t know where you’ve been but the Colorado/ canyon has people saying “cheap plastic interior” so no, not nicer. Every person on here comparing says that about those trucks.

I''m a pretty short guy (5'4). This is what i use while driving a Tacoma (Don't even ask me how I felt when sitting in a Tundra):

Because your on a Tacoma forum. Go to a chevy forum and you will hear the opposite. I personally like the interior look better on the Tacoma but the Colorado/Canyon are way better in terms of cabin space and comfort.

Seat comfort, no argument here (but they are ugly as sin). That is one thing the Z71 I checked out had over my Off-Road, but there's no way I'd call the interior better. It's just my opinion but I love how the Tacoma is laid out and the Colorado just felt... lazy? The huge dash piece on the right bothered me and the vents are effing huge. The door panel bothered the shit out of me as well and I greatly prefer the Tacoma's pad where I tend to rest my elbow.

I'm sure it's all preference but I can't really say that GM has had a great interior in a truck in the past several years. It definitely feels like more sacrifices were made compared to the Tacoma.

Oh it fits me fine from my test drive, it has more adjustment than my truck so that doesn’t bother me so much haha.

It’s just the powertrain in it doesn’t do it for me. It’s a smidgen quicker to 60 than my 22 year old pickup and doesn’t have that much more low end that I can notice.

I bought the BirdDawg Industries relocator for my rearview mirror. I never realized what a problem my factory mirror location was until I read these posts then, I noticed how often I was rubber-necking to see around my mirror. The relocator is SO EFFECTIVE that I feel like I have a much larger cab now!! The view is incredibly better! Literally a 3.5 minute install for first-timers!! Worth every penny spent!!

Reviving this thread since I haven't found a solution still.

Has anyone successfully lowered the seat without a permanent solution?

Just to head off the "Why did you buy a Tacoma" people we bought this for our son to use and my wife and I to also use it occationally. The truck fits perfectly for my 5'7 wife and 5'2 son(growing) but I don't fit for crap so need to be able to simply lower the seat when I get in and then re-raise it when I get out.

I am 5'8" and really am quite comfortable in the truck. The seats are more comfortable than the prior Taco (2004) and I do not feel that I have any trouble seeing over the hood. The hood profile is higher than that of the first gen I came from, but after a few days driving I did not notice it. My wife, who is 5'5" and has driven the taco only a handful of times since I bought it, feels like it barely fits in the lanes and is almost impossible to park because it "feels too huge". I can, and frequently do, park my bumper 3-6 inches from the wife's with no trouble in our driveway. If/when I drive her Rav, I can not see the front end and tend to park several feet farther back than is needed. It is all what you are used to.

The mirror does have 2 joints as did the 1st and 2nd gens. One of the first things I did was to push the mirror all the way up, not tilt but a vertical move by flexing the joint nearest the window up and the one at the mirror down. My mirror is quite close to the roof console but does not interfere with my vision or the sunglasses holder. I have 0 clue why this is not the default position as it gets the mirror farthest out of line of sight while allowing full use and adjustment.
