    Nothing worthy
Our cats are trained to stay in our backyard and we can leave them alone for hours without worry of escape. Our Aspen bolts straight for dirt to roll around in, like its her way of cleaning herself, and I swear it works! Filthy at the time but after a shake off, her coat is SO clean and soft. She looks like a horse rolling around in a cloud of dust..image.jpg

Really glad to hear that Henry is feeling better. I’ve been Thinking about him and now I can put my mind at ease.

Thanks. Really, the positive vibes help for sure. He's happy and comfortable at present, but he still has a pretty poor prognosis. We are going to have to sit down and have the "what if" conversation pretty soon. I travel a lot for work, and my wife likes to head home to Pittsburgh to see her mom and sisters often for girl-only time, so we each need to agree on what will happen if he goes into crisis again while one of us is away. I don't think we will put him through a repeat of the IV Lasix therapy and long hospital stay if he gets fluid on the lungs again. It's very, very sad, but the humane thing to do is let him go at that point (in my opinion, anyway).

We had the same situation just last August with Pumpkin, though we knew for years that she had heart issues. I got off a plane on the west coast and my wife called from the vet to tell me that Pumpkin was struggling to breathe. We had to decide to put her to sleep over the phone. That was very hard for me, and I'm sure Heather was a mess too. I want to avoid the back-and-forth for Henry and have a plan ready this time. Could be next week, could be a year or more, but it's inevitable.

Anyway, to try and keep it positive, here's a picture of Henry and his brother Arthur hanging out together this morning on a comfy bed with the late-summer breeze blowing through the room. I've been taking lots of pictures lately.

All I can say is I hear and feel ya. You guys will know when the time comes and when it does I sure hope you guys are both home. I have always doubted my judgement when it “was time”. My wife had always been the voice of reason for us. Boy it never gets any easier but we keep repeating the cycle. We just lost Albert this year and within only 2 months we brought home Amos. The thing is without these guys in our lives there’s something missing so why not bring them into our family and give them the best life possible. When Suki recently got sick I was devestated not knowing the prognosis and if she was going to get through it. I’m just thankful for each day that I’ve got with them.

Not necessarily, mine gets dandruff despite getting healthy food...we have to feed him a prescription based cat food formula because our other cat has diabetes. He's had dandruff his whole life and the vet says its likely just a dry skin condition he has and we need to bathe him with a special shampoo to help take care of it.

When we had to switch their food over to this prescription stuff I had hoped it would take care of the issue but it didn't. At almost $100 a bag it should lol. Crazy expensive for cat food but her other cat needs it, and since they're all indoors and have always shared food bowls we have to give it to all 3.

On the plus side it did help with his weight, he's always been a large cat but he dropped a couple pounds on the better food we switched them to a year ago, but still has dandruff issues. Drinks plenty of water too

The wife has been talking about adopting a couple more since we lost Pumpkin. I'm sure it won't be long. I've been advocating to keep the spot open to accommodate any hard case that finds us, but if we lose Henry I guarantee there will be kittens in my future.

Suki (the far one) hardly makes a peep- sometimes her mouth opens and nothing comes out. Louisa (near) talks and talks like there’s no tomorrow. It’s not too obnoxious though- just talking not long meow/howl like I’ve hear from other meezers.

Any tips on keeping our energetic and playful kitten off of our curtains? She scratches the posts in the house like she loves it, but doesn’t stop there and our discouragement / encouragement doesn’t seem to be working.

Spray bottle / water gun next?
